JetPrivilege opens up a shopping mall, offers 500 JPMiles to get started

JetPrivilege is the perfect example of a mileage factory, where they are tying up with multiple vendors to sell miles, and then use them towards redemption of flights on Jet Airways, Etihad and other partner airlines, apart from being able to use them to buy a toaster. On last count, JetPrivilege was able to grant you miles to fly various airlines, swipe credit cards from 5 different partner banks, convert from multiple other banks, stay in hotels, eat a meal, shop, and maybe even open an investment account or test drive a car.

Now, there is a new method as well. Shopping online. You can now use the shopping feature on JetPrivilege’s website, to earn JPMiles. JetPrivilege signed up with Flipkart to now offer JPMiles against your purchases. You can earn up to 15 JPMiles/INR 100 spent using the Flipkart JetPrivilege shopping mall.

Here is how it works

The website is essentially Flipkart, but white-labelled to offer you information about JPMiles earned per product as well. So, you head up to shop.jetprivilege.com and you will see the various product categories along with the product price. Be aware that you won’t be earning the same number of miles on each product. This is due to the margins on products that Flipkart may be able to spare you. Let us take an example of trying to buy an iPhone. An iPhone 6s 16GB Silver is going to earn you 1479 JPMiles, and coming for ₹ 36990.

This is the same price as when you’d buy it from Flipkart. So, you get 4 JPMiles/INR 100 spent for mobile phones as well along.

Your due JPmiles will be credited within 75 days of completing the purchase. This is usually the timeframe where any returns period gets over, and then Flipkart is sure than no product returns need to be processed. Then they give the go-ahead to JetPrivilege to credit the miles to your account.

Introductory offer: Get 500 JPMiles for any purchase

To kick start your shopping experience, JetPrivilege is offering 500 bonus JPMiles on your 1st transaction with the shopping mall if you do so by October 7, 2016. From the looks of it, it seems any amount of transaction would be fine. So, I’m looking to add some things to my cart over the weekend and take the shopping experience for a test drive.

What are your thoughts about this? Are you excited about more ways to earn JPMiles? Would you be a regular at using this opportunity?

  1. This is going to sound like self promotion, but I do have a related comment. If you instead want to earn straight cash for your online shopping, you can use CouponDunia. Instead of JP Miles you earn cashback into your CouponDunia account. Unlike this shop.jetprivilege thing, our cashback works across most ecommerce sites (like snapdeal, shopclues, makemytrip, etc)

  2. Would the Diner’s 10x rewards be valid along with this offer?
My last few purchases from Flipkart haven’t yielded any 10x points. I have raised it with HDFC/Flipkart and awaiting a response.
Also, my RM says the Diner’s card would too be devalued from 1st Nov.

  3. Hi Ajay,

Thanks for alerting your readers about this.

A query: I will soon get a HDFC jet privilege credit card. In addition to the JP miles one gets from purchasing products from the shop.privilige site portal, will one also get the normal JP miles/150 for using the credit card as well

    Best,

    • You should get the normal JP miles as per your credit card’s spending agreement – that should not be touched.

Any promo miles for shopping on Flipkart would probably not be accrued – as you are using a JP-branded site. (With JP’s own domain – and accrue miles as they have specified as earning)

  4. But you would get 10x PremierMiles using the Citibank credit card if shopping direct on Flipkart.com.

(At least until the promo period with Citi-Flipkart)

One has to weigh the benefits of each method.

    • Hi,

Since the payment happens on Flipkart website, you will continue to get all card related benefits (jp miles/ reward points) along with the base and bonus JPMiles from shop.jetprivilege.com
