JetPrivilege freezes member status due to Jet Airways grounding

JetPrivilege, the loyalty and rewards programme for Jet Airways, is in limbo since the day the airline went in limbo as well. After the sale of the majority equity stake in the programme to Etihad in 2013, the status offerings, such as upgrades and privileges such as lounge access were the responsibility of the airline. However, issuance and redemption of miles became the responsibility of JetPrivilege Private Limited, which was the company spun off to keep the miles.

jetprivilege platinum and gold members

In the wake of the suspension of operations of Jet Airways, of course, many questions have been asked about the privileges that people earned. Most of them by JetPrivilege Platinum and Gold members, who were the loyalists to the airline. Here are some answers.

And on the other hand, JetPrivilege sent me an email reminding me I needed to make up for the status very soon! This, after the airline, was already in the suspended state!

I think, given the temporary shut down of the airline at the moment, these are legit moves by the airline and the loyalty programme, and as the situation evolves, it allows them to figure things going forward as well.

Remember, for those of you who are looking for an alternate status, Vistara offers Gold status matches and will confirm you as a Platinum as soon as you take 12 flights within 3 months.

I’m sure there are more questions that come to mind, and I am going to try and answer them in the comments section.

How are you coping up with the loss of your status on Jet Airways?

  1. Does this mean on Etihad we will still enjoy lounge access and extra baggage allowance as before depending on tier status?

  2. A good insight into the present situation of freezing. Thanks Mr Ajay. Pls add some more points about the redemptions on etihad for international journey and for domestic on other airlines with the same amount of jp miles as was with the jet flights.

  3. “Voucher codes from co-brand credit card partners, if not used, will also be extended”- means these codes which could be used for Jet Airways flights only, will be usable as soon as (and if) Jet is running again?

  4. I’m one who’s waiting and holding my JP miles and hoping for the airline to make a turnaround, and hoping that in case Etihad bails them out they do not scrap JPrivilege program like the way they did with Air Berlin.

  5. Working towards hitting platinum on Vistara. Hopefully they launch more flights from BOM and give us full service options. (Not going to trust Air India when I have important meetings to attend and can’t afford a SNAFU)
