About 7 weeks back I informed you about the on going trouble between Jet Airways and Citibank and how their 12-year long credit card partnership was coming to an end with effect from 15th July 2012. I had hinted on the partners in the works on this FlyerTalk thread, and both my predictions have come true!
Now, the new tie-ups have been announced just in the nick of time, just like Jet Airways promised, but it looks like 2 out of the 3 are still work in progress. I don’t thing either of these 3 banks is going to be jumping with joy at their partnerships, since they will obviously be able to offer airmiles as rewards to their customers, with Jet Airways being really stingy about their redemption seats, this would lead to plenty of more unhappy Jet Privilege members.
According to the communication, HDFC Bank and Jet Airways will be the first tie-up to go live, and valid across credit and debit cards. While HDFC Bank is one of the biggest banks in India and hence a lot of debit cards in circulation, they are one of the most conservative banks to approve credit cards. So, all the best with securing a Jet Airways HDFC Bank credit card when it goes live.
Jet will also tie-up with American Express and ICICI Bank, the two banks who were earlier offering the Kingfisher Airlines co-branded cards. This does not mean your Kingfisher Cards with automatically swap into Jet Airways card, but I guess the option will be available when these cards are available in the market.
There is no more information on these cards out there at this moment, but if I hear more, I will be sure to tell all of you about it!
