Jet Airways launching 3rd London–Mumbai flight with real cheap biz fares

Jet Airways is moving ahead with the launch of a third flight between Mumbai and London to make it their fifth flight to London out of India. At present, the airline already operates 3 flights from Delhi & Mumbai to London

The airline is launching another flight from Mumbai on their 77W planes, which are the only Jet Airways products to have a first class cabin. The new flight from Jet Airways will be with the following timings, with effect from October 29, 2017.

The new flights clearly time very well on connections via London. After Amsterdam and Paris, Jet Airways is also working with Virgin Atlantic and Delta to have more people fly to the USA via London as well. Not just that, it also works very well for Londoners who want to arrive in Mumbai early in the morning to be able to have a full day of work ahead of them. For the tourists as well, these flights work well since they arrive and depart London at times when hotels would be ready to receive them and they don’t have to wait for a room to be ready.

On the pricing front, Jet Airways is working pretty aggressively on this flight for the moment. While flights to the UK from India could cost anywhere in the vicinity of INR 40000 upwards for economy and INR 1.25 Lakhs upwards for Business class, here are some sweet deals on these newly launched flights. For Economy, round trip fares start at INR 35000. For Business, you get a roundtrip at INR 99000, which is a very sweet deal.

I sure do like Jet Airways’ Business Class product, the Herringbone one, which is installed on these planes. Here is a review of the same product on another plane.

It’s good to see a new flight from India by Jet Airways, but I’m just wondering why are they not already opening their own flights to the USA again?

What do you think of this new flight from Jet Airways?

  1. Anyone who has travelled the Bangalore – Singapore route with Jet know what a Tatti airline this is. Truly third class.

  2. The service and hardware quality of Jet Airways has gone downhill. Their 777s are in serious need of an upgrade, especially in Economy.
Their meal service is pathetic as well. I was connecting in LHR from a flight from SFO on VS, and could experience a significant downgrade in the experience. Although I flew in on a much older A340-600, the 9W aircraft felt much older and in need of a cabin update.
The service on VS is 2nd only to Singapore Airlines or the ME3. Jet on the other hand had pathetic service: no hot towels, drink service was with the meal (not prior), no snacks between the 2 meal services, Flight attendants who could care less and seemed irritated by their ‘guests’ for most of the flight, the list could go on and on. Jet can only hope that the laptop ban on the ME3 carriers stays active for them to succeed in Western markets.

    • Totally agree with the above comment. Just flew Jet business from London to Mumbai and was really disappointed. Service has gone down, got my drink with great reluctance and after repeated requests. Food service took three hours. A serious downhill to my previous flights on the same sector.
The planes are also aging. Seat creaked all night!!!

  3. Hello Ajay. Nice writeup on this new flight from BOM-LHR. This will be 6th flight out from BOM-LHR route (2 BA and 1 AI)

I would love to see 9W flying again to US and via AMS making it a scissors hub like BRU.
Although they can even extend one of their afternoon LHR flight to EWR. (5th freedom) or JFK making LHR their another hub.

And going eastwards, BOM- HKG-LAX / Vancouver would be another route to look forward.

  4. The Delta connection from Amsterdam to Newark,NJ,USA is a very poor quality 757 Aircraft compared to even the Airbus 330, which was a smaller Aircraft when Jet flew directly from Brussels to Newark.Even the head room on the 757 is lower than 330.
I flew Business from Bom-Amsterdam-Newark and hated it!

  5. Agree timings are perfect both ways… Wonder why they dont start a second flight between DEL-LHR! The single daily flight is always overbooked …. And as per research the overall traffic between Delhi – London is higher than BOM-LHR.
