I have to admit I am grinning ear to ear when I write about an Indian carrier launching new International flights. The past few years have not been the greatest for Indian aviation, with carriers not doing so well due to the high price of oil largely. Air India is on a launch spree with new flights to Madrid, London – Newark, San Francisco, Vienna amongst other routes. Jet Airways has been up gauging lots of its flights sending bigger B77W planes to Dubai, Singapore & Amsterdam. However, now time for a new route from them.
With effect from December 14, 2016, Jet Airways will open a new route between Bangalore & Singapore. In our post about Jet Airways’ international growth, we had expected this launch in early 2017. It is just 15 days ahead of our estimate though.
The new Bangalore – Singapore flight will be operated by a Boeing 737 to start with, and will have the following timings:
9W024 BLR1110 – 1810SIN 737 D
9W023 SIN1915 – 2115BLR 737 D
Reservations are already open for this flight, and if the JetScreen IFE system is installed on this flight, it should work as well!
Bottomline
Colour me excited. I am all for new flights, and I hope this one works out for Jet Airways, given that Singapore is seeing not just competition from Air India and Singapore Airlines, but also Scoot and other airlines. I’m guessing there will be a promotion offering something like double or triple miles as well shortly.
