Jet Airways, Indigo and SpiceJet offering Indian fare sales till August 4, 2014

A fare sale a week keeps the customers happy and flying, while the airlines, they keep ‘em drying out of cash. Yet, this is the reality of the Indian market and somehow we are back to the days 2-3 years back when airlines would drop their prices frequently to get each others’ customers to fly on their airlines. How they call it, is stoking demand, but I guess mostly it is the same people who’d have flown anyways moving their business elsewhere.

SpiceJet, as usual, brought out another bout of fare sale this week. These sales have given them marketshare. They are selling discounted tickets till the end of August 3, 2014 (India Standard Time), for travel between September 1, 2014 to December 15, 2014.

Yet, again, sectors such as Mumbai-Delhi are going for INR 2,999 which is at least 40-45% cheaper than the usual INR 5,000 fare which goes at this sector. Check it out if you’d like. The sale fares are tagged Sale when you make a search and may have more restrictive conditions. Non-refundable fares, all of these.

Jet Airways has gotten back into the fare sales as well since last week after Etihad reaffirmed their commitment to Jet Airways. They’re promising upto 50% off in Economy fares (on Jet & JetKonnect) if you book between August 1 and 4, 2014 for travel September 1, 2014 onwards. No end date specified for travel, but I am seeing these fares being valid on long-dated tickets as well, such as those in June 2015.

Now, these fares may or match those offered by SpiceJet. Differences exist, of course… full service v/s no-frills carriers and all the associated privileges. So, don’t try looking for an exact match. You’d see that the discount is offered on select booking classes only (B,O). Again, all these fares are non-refundable, so be aware.

Indigo, as usual, does not go all out advertising they are offering a sale, but sneak in a newsletter in your mailbox. They’re matching SpiceJet fares and offering non-refundable fares for travel between September 1, 2014 to December 15, 2014 if you bought those by September 4, 2014.

As is the usual, if you want to book them using an online travel agency, you can use our links as well to support out blog. Fares are available on GoIbibo, MakeMyTrip.com, Expedia and Yatra.com.

ProTip: You might want to combine this with the Hyatt 50% off fare sale to make a vacation somewhere in the coming months.
