I got myself the Jet Airways ICICI Sapphiro Credit Card

Earlier this year, when I first wrote about the Jet Airways ICICI Bank Credit Card offer where JetPrivilege was offering thousands of bonus JPMiles, I knew that I had to apply for the topline variant, the Jet Airways ICICI Sapphiro credit card.

The calculation was simple; I was getting 8,000 bonus JPMiles on top of the 10,000 signup JPMiles for an annual fee of INR 5,000. So, essentially for 5,000 rupees, I was getting 18,000 JPMiles plus a one-way free ticket on Jet Airways. INR 0.30/JPMile sounded like a sweet deal!

ICICI Sapphiro Credit Card

Ajay already has the card for a few years and has written about it.  He told me to apply for both, the Amex and the Visa variant. All I had to do was tick them off on the application form. Again, I double, triple checked the form after filling it out.

Now that both the cards are in my hand, I realise that with the Amex variant I have a better mileage earning structure:

  • Domestic Spends: 5 JPMiles/INR 100
  • International Spends: 7 JPMiles/INR 100
  • On JetAirways.com: 10 JPMiles/INR 100

However, in places that do not accept the Amex card like Gaggan, the two Michelin-star restaurant, then I have the Visa variant as well. The Visa variant accumulates at the following earning structure:

  • Domestic Spends: 4 JPMiles/INR 100
  • International Spends: 5 JPMiles/INR 100
  • On JetAirways.com: 8 JPMiles/INR 100

There are a few other features that I quite like about this card. For starters complimentary airport lounge access. The Dragon Pass that otherwise costs USD 99 comes free with this card and offers two complimentary international lounge access every year. Plus I get two complimentary spa sessions at select airports in India. I can’t wait to use the latter.

The other perk that I’ve already used is the free movie tickets on BookMyShow. ICICI Bank has had a long-standing deal with BookMyShow, where Sapphiro credit cardholders get free tickets. So twice every month when I buy one ticket, I get up to INR 500 off on the second ticket. Last week Ajay and I watched Mission Impossible on swanky recliners and paid INR 900 for two tickets. Not bad!

The card offers me a bunch of other benefits such as free Golf lessons and dining discounts. I think that this is a nice co-branded card I’ve added in my wallet. The free one-way ticket and the benefits on offer justify the price point.

Get 50% off on the Joining Fee till August 31, 2018

If you are contemplating applying for this card then no time better than now. ICICI Bank is offering a 50% discount until August 31, 2018. The offer drops the price for Jet Airways ICICI Sapphiro Credit Card to INR 2,500 + taxes for initiation fees. You get the 10,000 JPMiles and a free Jet Airways Economy Class ticket, which makes it an easy way to get JPMiles for INR 0.25 per mile and the Economy ticket comes free. Applying through these links will get you the promotional pricing.

Get Up to 8000 Extra signup JPMiles

The other great offer on this card, one we’ve written about before as well, is the Channel Bonus when you apply through JetPrivilege Cards website. On this website, you get to pay full fees, but you get bonus JPMiles. The offer is as follows:

  • Jet Airways ICICI Bank Sapphiro Credit Card (INR 5,000 | 18,000 JPMiles)
  • Jet Airways ICICI Bank Rubyx Credit Card (INR 2,500 | 11,000 JPMiles)
  • Jet Airways ICICI Bank Sapphiro Credit Card (INR 1,250 | 6,500 JPMiles)

Head to Cards.JetPrivilege.Com to apply.

Have you taken on the Jet Airways ICICI Bank co-branded credit cards? What has been your best use of these cards so far?

  1. Joining fees and renewal fees is for both cards or have to pay individually? Which one is best normal saphiro or jet saphiro? i am already using icici coral with average spends of 1.2L per month.

  2. Hi
Can anyone help in confirming whether you get tier.points for free base fare waiver voucher?

Am based out of Ahmedabad, and with just jet flights to Mumbai/Delhi, I don’t think I would get much value for my base fare waiver tickets.

And gonna just be savings of 500 Rs on most days, but I guess still useful if can get tier points with it.

  3. I applied through the mentioned link for a sapphiro, and after entering all the details and having verified that it is indeed 2,500 + GST, I had clicked submit, and the website left a message, that I am eligible for this card and a representative would be in touch with me soon to get the documentation done. A few hours later, I had received a call from a Mumbai landline which I missed as I was on another call. This seems to have been from ICICI Credit card department when I checked on Truecaller. They haven’t called back ever since. Should I wait until tomorrow before I raise a twitter handle request?

  4. @Ankit

You can consider HDFC Diners Clubmiles. It earns 4 points/INR 150 and is converted at 1 point = 1 mile across BA, SQ, 9W, and UK across airlines and Trident hotels. The points are also redeemable at the rate of 1 point = Re. 0.50 across 150+ airlines and hotels.

Not sure if this card qualifies for the 10X promotion.

    @Ajay,

could you be kind enough to do a review of this card? it seems a good product. though the acceptability is a bit of concern

    • Just checked the HDFC website and this card qualifies for 10x promotion on smartbuy + Select partners + international spends. Earning is similar to Diners Premium

  5. Does the joining bonus of 10k JPMiles get credited immediately?
I am using this from past 3 months and yet to receive the joining bonus

      • Hi Ajay, I also received this card last month and I’m also yet to receive the joining bonus miles. I’d also now escalate it.

I had a prior poor experience with them on my Jet HDFC debit card. Neither got the Rs 750 voucher, nor the first-swipe 500 bonus miles. JP miles were also not credited for my spends for over 4 months. I had to escalate and even after 4 months, I’m still awaiting my card joining/spend benefits! I just receive 3-4 emails per week saying that they are currently checking on the issue raised and will revert shortly. I wonder why they need months for this.

It’s really frustrating to run after them for something as trivial as joining bonus which should ideally have come on its own without approaching them. They seriously need to get their act together.

  6. I have been searching for the best credit card to optimize cashback / reward earnings. Me and my wife have been a loyal user of Amex Jet Platinum and Citi Premier Miles, but with Jet going downhill, I need another card for my wife now which is non-miles based. Looked at websites like Bank Bazaar but all of them seem so sponsored that I am not sure who to trust. Ajay, while yours posts on credit cards are good, there was none comparing the best cards in the market. Maybe worth a post.

In any case, any suggestions where the earning rate (Point accumulation rate * Cash equivalent in terms of rewards) per Rs. 100 is in the range of 2-2.5%? These miles based cards and HDFC Diners Black is not my cup of tea.

  7. I have this card. One of the hidden benefits is the automatic upgrade to ICICI wealth management (if you are already not part of it).

That is the only reason I pay annual fees on this card since I am not a big fan of JP.

      • Faster service. You get a different customer service number, a human picks up the call and you can get things faster. Many branches have dedicated wealth management desks.

      • Apart from better service, you get wealth SB account with nil balance account. Further, privileges like charge waivers, attractive rates of interest, personalised international Debit Card, Family Wealth Account and ICICI e-Locker.
