4 Jet Airways Airbus A330 are being moved out of the fleet

Jet Airways temporarily suspended flight operations from April 17, 2019. Till so far, 50 Jet Airways aircraft including 2 Airbus A330-300s and 1 Boeing 777-300ER have been de-registered from the Jet Airways fleet. SpiceJet is taking up 22 of these aircraft on lease, talking about another 18 being inducted soon, if the CEO is to be believed. Air India is looking to lease (either dry lease or wet lease) 5 Jet Airways Boeing 777-300ER. Air India Express is exploring lease of up to 7 Jet Airways 737 NG aircraft.

The 50 aircraft are: VT-JBB/C/D/E/F/J/K/R/S/Q, VT-JGA/C/G/P/Q/R/S/T/U/V/W/X/Y, VT-JFD/F/J/K/M/P/Q/W/Y/X/Z, VT-JTA/B/C/E/H/K/L/M/N, VT-SJA, VT-SIZ, VT-JWS/T, VT-JLE/F and VT-JEK.

In addition, lessors have already applied to de-register 6 more Jet Airways aircraft. Out of these 6 aircraft, 4 are widebodies: 2 A330-300 (VT-JWR and VT-JWU)and 2 A330-200 (VT-JWP and VT-JWQ). VT-JWQ flew to Madrid on April 11, 2019.

Following this, Jet Airways is left with 3 A330-200, all are on a financial lease. One of them is leased to Air Serbia. Jet Airways had around 75 737s and now only around 28 737s remain in Jet Airways fleet. In addition, Jet Airways still has 9 777-300ER, all on a financial lease, 15 ATR 72-500 and 1 ATR 72-600.

This is most unfortunate, and will certainly hamper if and when the airline comes back.

  1. “When the airline comes back”… too optimistic 🙂
As much as we would all love to see Jet Airways back up soon, but it seems more and more difficult now, with aircrafts being de-registered, staff being hired by other airlines, slots being given to other airlines.
