IndusInd Jet Airways co-branded card to cut mileage earned

Not so long ago, IndusInd Bank brought out their co-branded credit card with Jet Airways. When it came out, it was a bag full of perks, because you had access to the Altitude Lounge at Mumbai and Delhi, and you had access to some crazy mileage earning opportunities, especially over the weekends. You could earn 16 JPMiles/INR 100 spent on Jet Airways tickets over the weekend on the Odyssey Amex version of this card.

Party is over, mileage earning being cut from April 1

I received communication from IndusInd Bank last night, that they are going to cut the mileage earned from their Odyssey version of the card as of April 1, 2016. The new earning ratios will be more in line with what the other co-branded partners give out, as you can earn a maximum of 12 JPMiles/INR 100 from April 1, 2016 onwards.

While I could not find the new mileage earning for the Voyage version online, I am not sure if any changes took place over there.

Bottomline

I still keep this card in my wallet, because I still get one free ticket and 5,000 JPMiles just to keep the card active. However, I don’t use it much at the moment for booking tickets, especially since all my tickets are booked using Diners Club 10X Rewards these days or the EasemyTrip cashback promotions. With the weekday/weekend nature of this card, I could never get settled in to using it with surety of getting the right miles on the right day, and hence, I never used it much anyways.

Readers, did your mileage earning plans get impacted with this change to the IndusInd credit card?

  1. SBI SIGNATURE AIR INDIA Credit card reward points earning is being devalued from 11th April 2016.. You ll now earn 20000 bonus points on spending 5L , another 30000 on 6L , and 50000 on spending 20L.Now this card seems useless , just like Air India.

  2. @Ajay – Recieved mail from SBI too . Massive changes are coming in their cobrand card with Air India from 11th April. Threshold limit increased for bonus points , new spending critiera added on spends for matching status . It’s a double whammy as air India has already devalued their miles before.

  3. got the email as well and what I noticed was, they stopped crediting the extra miles on transactions made on jetairways.com since Jan 1st 2016
I emailed them with the detailed transactions that have the missing 2X miles.

Hopefully this is an error and they didn’t try to “save” some cost.
Not sure if others are facing this issue..
