IndusInd Bank to launch a multi-airline co-branded credit card with Qatar Airways and British Airways

British Airways and Qatar Airways are coming together with IndusInd Bank to launch a co-branded credit card, the first multi-airline co-branded airline credit card I have ever heard of.

Qatar Airways / British Airways co-branded credit card coming soon

In 2022, Qatar Airways moved to Avios as its currency. Now, you can earn Avios, which you can even move between British Airways Executive Club and Qatar Airways Privilege Club. In the background, both airlines have come together to launch a co-branded credit card in alliance with IndusInd Bank and Visa.

The multi-branded credit card is slated to be launched between April and June 2023. Through this proposition, members will soon be able to collect Avios, the rewards currency for British Airways Executive Club and Qatar Airways Privilege Club, by signing up and choosing their preferred loyalty programme. They could have called it the Avios – IndusInd Bank Credit Card, but the airlines wanted to see their name on the card instead.

This credit card will be available as a Visa Infinite credit card, and you can pick from between BA or QR’s loyalty programme to put your earned miles in. Since both programmes are on the Avios platform, it is an easy gig, since IndusInd will need to deal with one counterparty, IAG’s Avios Limited. More details are awaited, though, about the card’s details.

On this occasion, Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, said,

Today Qatar Airways Privilege Club takes another step forward in providing our members with the best offerings in the industry, introducing a first-of-its-kind Visa multi-branded credit card in India with IndusInd Bank.

When adopting Avios as our rewards currency, we promised members that new and exciting opportunities would come, this collaboration with oneworld® partner British Airways is another manifestation of this. We look forward to seeing our members in India availing the extensive benefits of this new partnership, which is designed to enhance their future travels.”

Oliver Currell, Head of Financial Partnerships, IAG Loyalty, said,

We are delighted to launch the new British Airways and Qatar Airways credit card with IndusInd Bank, a unique multi-brand credit card. The Avios currency will give Indian consumers great value rewards and opportunities to do more when it comes to global travel and experiences.

British Airways used to have a credit card partnership with ICICI Bank until a few years ago, which, unfortunately, is no longer available for fresh signups.

Bottomline

Qatar Airways and British Airways are coming together to launch a co-branded credit card with IndusInd Bank, which will be offered to customers in the period April – June 2023 sometime. Expect it to be a pricey card since it is an Infinite card variant. You will be able to earn Avios with the card, although we are curious if any perks come along on BA/QR on this card.

What do you think should be on your wishlist with this to be British Airways/Qatar Airways co-branded IndusInd Bank card???
