IndiGo has been actively adding a range of new domestic flights, albeit temporary for now, using Jet Airways slots. They have added quite a few international flights, especially to Saudi Arabia, taking advantage of the recent increase in bilateral rights.
- IndiGo launched 11 new flights from Mumbai Terminal 2
- Massive expansion by IndiGo from Mumbai and Delhi
- IndiGo adds Jeddah, Dammam, Abu Dhabi flights from Mumbai
- IndiGo adds 2x daily Chennai-Kuala Lumpur flights
To facilitate the domestic expansion, IndiGo had temporarily withdrawn some of its international flights. While Bengaluru-Phuket has restarted, IndiGo has extended the closure of Ahmedabad-Doha and Thiruvananthapuram-Doha to October 27, 2019. Instead IndiGo has added a second daily Mumbai-Doha frequency.
The Hong Kong foray started on December 11, 2018, with IndiGo adding a daily Bengaluru-Hong Kong flight with an A320. IndiGo has now added Kolkata – Hong Kong to its route network. The first flight is scheduled for August 20, 2019. The schedule for the new flight is
6E1791 CCU2240 – 0455HKG 320 D
6E1792 HKG0550 – 0740CCU 320 D
IndiGo is offering inaugural roundtrip fares of INR 20k on Kolkata-Hong Kong route.
IndiGo is competing with Cathay Dragon which operates 6x weekly flights on Kolkata-Hong Kong route with an A320. IndiGo said that 50% of the expansion in 2019 would be from international growth. They have many more destinations lined up, including flights to China and Hanoi this year. Let’s see which other international routes IndiGo adds this season.
How many kg free allowance to Hong Kong from Kolkata..and how many pcs of baggage allow?
Please send me details of baggage policy for hongkong sector from Kolkata..
Thanking you…
The 05:50 AM departure from HKG does not sound appealing, from an Indian visitor’s POV. It means either spending the night at the airport, or a wasted hotel night.
Based on journalist Tarun Shukla’s Twitter feed, I believe the Vietnamese destination will be HCMC rather than Hanoi.
Any update on when DEL-CTU and CCU-CAN will commence?
