IndiGo Means Business: Aircraft equipped with IndiGo Stretch product to be marked!

In August 2024, IndiGo announced that the airline would launch a new tailormade “business product” on India’s busiest and business routes.

IndiGo’s new Business Product: IndiGoStretch

While earlier on, IndiGo used to sell its extra legroom seats on the first row and emergency exit on its A320-family aircraft, called IndiGo XL; the airline is now going to have proper business-class seats on some of its A321neo aircraft.

The airline has selected the Recaro R5 as its new offering. IndiGo will offer the coupe-style, 2×2 seats on 45 aircraft in the coming months, with the first one set to be inducted into service in November 2024.

  • Seat width of 21.3 inches
  • Six-way adjustable headrest with neck support
  • 5″ recline
  • Electronic Device Holder
  • 60W USB-C Power supply along with a 3-pin universal power outlet

The airline will also offer the following perks for those booking IndiGoStretch:

  • No convenience fee
  • Vegetarian meal box, curated by Oberoi Hotels
  • Choice of (soft) beverages
  • Advance seat selection
  • Priority check-in
  • Anytime boarding.

IndiGo’s new sticker/livery turns up at Hamburg.

IndiGo will operate an A321neo aircraft line-fit with the new IndiGo Stretch product effective November 14, 2024. The airline will operate Delhi—Mumbai as the first route and expand from there. The first aircraft with these seats is currently being prepared for delivery to IndiGo in Hamburg, where Airbus has the Final Assembly Line for the A321neo aircraft. The first aircraft will be registered VT-ICF when it arrives in India.

Now, while IndiGo has a laser focus on not straying away from the standard livery, it has (white, with blue embellishments) it seems a small compromise has been arrived at for the new product being launched.

Planespotter Tobias Gudat on X.com published some exciting images of this new aircraft, which still bears its test registration plate.

Yes, IndiGo Means Business. This is an intelligent play on IndiGo’s name, and IndiGo is carrying it on the first aircraft they will equip with the Stretch Product. Does this carry on to all the other aircraft fitted with Stretch? We have yet to find out. But even then, this is an upgrade from IndiGo’s usual no-nonsense play with over 350 aircraft so far in the fleet.

However, this is also interesting from the perspective that IndiGo will call this product Stretch on the inside, but on the outside, it wants to refer to it as Business. A bit confusing?

Bottomline

IndiGo will affix “IndiGo Means Business” logo unit on their first aircraft carrying the IndiGo Stretch product. Perhaps this is a celebration to mark the product launch or a sub fleet move where all such IndiGo Stretch-equipped aircraft get the evolved logo unit; we don’t know yet.

What do you think of “IndiGo Means Business” on these aircraft?
