The Covid-19 infections being reported at a very strong rate in China are causing the world to look at them with caution, and India is no different. In December 2022, India instituted RT-PCR testing requirements for arrivals through Singapore, China, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea, which went live in early January 2023.
India repeals the requirement to get an RT-PCR test on arrivals and transit from Singapore / Japan / Hong Kong, and other countries.
International passengers travelling from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand to India will no longer be required to undergo RTPCR tests before their departure/transit from these countries/destinations and upload the COVID-negative RTPCR test report on the Air Suvidha portal from February 13, 2023. A notification to this effect has been issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India today.
Ideally, this is not the final word, and there will be another paper issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to notify of this change. Still, if you are landing in India after February 13, 2023, at 11 AM or onwards, then you should not need to get a test done for arrival anymore.
Bottomline
India has repealed a compulsory testing requirement (RT-PCR) for arrival/transit from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand to India, effective February 13, 2023 (11 AM India Standard Time).
