InterContinental Hotels Group loyalty programme IHG Rewards’ has revealed their global promotion for summer 2021, which is offering up to 3x points for your stays at an IHG hotel in the coming months. Here are the details.

Earn up to 3X points with IHG “Triple Your Points” Promotion

IHG Rewards has announced its new global promotion, which will offer up to triple points for stays between May 15 and August 16, 2021.

• Members will earn 1X IHG Rewards Club points on their first stay
• Members will earn 2X IHG Rewards Club points on their second stay
• Members will earn 3X IHG Rewards Club points on their third stay and onwards.
• IHG Rewards Club co-brand credit card members will earn up to 6,000 additional bonus points (only relevant for specific geographies, not India)

Registration for the promotion is already open, and you can register till August 16, 2021. You need to register before an eligible stay (a paid stay directly booked with IHG, with a minimum room rate of USD 30 (INR 2226 approximately).  Award stays don’t qualify. Bonus points will post 4-6 weeks after completion of the eligible stay. A member can earn up to 100K bonus points from the triple points promotion and another 6K if you have an IHG Rewards co-brand card.

You can usually earn 10 points per USD spent at IHG hotel brands apart from Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites, which get you 5 points per USD Spent. With this promotion, you get double for your second stay and triple for your third stay onwards. Also, bonus points are earned in the following order: 10% for Gold Elites, 50% for Platinum Elites, 100% for Spire Elites and Kimpton Inner Circle members.

If I decided to head to an IHG hotel, that means, as a Platinum Elite, I will earn 350% points (35 points/1 USD) from my third stay onwards, which would be sweet.

You must also remember that this year is a very easy year to earn IHG Rewards elite status. Having said that, IHG Rewards’ status does not get you much, so don’t really go out of your way for it.

Bottomline

IHG’s new promotion offers you double points on your second stay and triple points on your third stay and onwards, which gets you an opportunity to earn 20 points more per USD spent at the minimum.
