IHG Rewards Club is currently running  a Flash Sale on points purchase where members can buy points at 100% bonus. This sale is running until September 30, 2016.

Points are priced at USD 13.5 for every 1000 (plus 1000 bonus) IHG Rewards Club points, bringing down the value per point to 0.675 cents each. Points can be purchased in multiples of 1,000 and  you can buy maximum of 60,000 IHG Rewards Club points every year.  You can either buy the points yourself or receive it as a gift. It will take up to 2 days for the points credit to reflect in your account.

IHG does have some aspirational properties in their portfolio and some hotels where you could gain value from redemptions are :

Intercontinental Times Square, New York for 60,000 points a night. The value on redemption under this promotion works out to be USD 345, where prices can go all the way up to USD 500 plus in the holiday season.

Hotel Indigo: Seminyak Beach, Bali.  Priced at USD 300 a night, just for 30,000 points this is a great redemption choice as the value of points under this offer drive costs all the way down to USD 187.5 a night.

Intercontinental :ANA, Tokyo that be redeemed for about USD 400 a night will cost about USD 312.5 for 50,000 Rewards Club points.

Of course if you do spend your points on any of the participating hotels available at 5,000 points per night in the PointBreaks then you have real leverage in the purchase.

Bottomline:

Personally, I will only purchase points if I have a specific property in mind for redemption, however, this is the best offer you can get on IHG point purchase. IHG is running a number of other promotions where you can earn Rewards Club points. I have already earned 75,000 points by combining my Accelerate and Book Direct promotion this month.
