IHG Rewards Club has released its Accelerate promotion for Q2 this year. This promotion is valid for stays between May 15 and August 31, 2017.
For the past couple of years, IHG Rewards Club has been running its customized Accelerate promotion. Under the Accelerate promotion various IHG Rewards Club members get different versions of the offer. Offers usually have a game like approach and a certain number of points are earned after crossing each hurdle. You will need to register here to access your offer.
In 2017’s first Accelerate offer I had 5 different tasks to complete with an opportunity to earn a total of 41,000 IHG Rewards Club points. Now in the second version this year I have an opportunity to earn a total of 38,700 bonus points by completing seven tasks.
Basically, I can complete my entire challenge by staying 19 nights at any one brand during the promotion period. Now that is quite steep compared to my last offer where I could have earned 39,500 bonus points by just completing 6 nights at 2 different IHG properties. Also, there is no completion bonus for me this time around. I guess IHG is really testing my loyalty this time around with the Accelerate 🙂

Bottomline:
Mine is quite a tough one and requires almost 3 weeks of stays in 3 months. So, I am giving this one a pass for sure. I’m interested to see what other personalized offers the IHG Rewards Club has come up with this time.

Full pay is available at INR 8.4K ++
on Point is as below

@Nitesh, no, points + pay in IHG do not qualify for accelerate, but do qualify for a night counted towards your IHG status

Nitesh, I usually value IHG points at 0.5cents, about 32 paisa per point. So adding on the 28% GST to the room rate the minimum you are looking at paying is INR 10,750. A night stay using all 25,000 points will get you a value of 43 paisa and at the other points+cash end 10,000 points+ 89 USD will get a return value of 50 paisa per point used.
Choosing between all points & points + cash for me depends on the return value, no of points I have, where I want to stay and the length of stay I’m looking at. Our best IHG redemption so far has been a week long stay at the Intercontinental in BoraBora Islands when rates for over water villas were USD 1000 plus.
Btw, the same hotel is priced at INR 16,000 ++ in December holiday season so you could get a return value of about 80 paisa per point.
