IHG Rewards Club offering up to 4X points on stays through September 8, 2020

IHG Rewards Club has released the details of their next global promotion, valid for travel through September 2020. This promotion builds on IHG’s earlier promotion this year. The new IHG 4X 2020 promotion allows you to earn up to 4x points when you step out next to stay at an IHG brand property.

The new promotion is valid for stays between June 12 and September 8, 2020. Registration is required before eligible stays, and this promotion is only valid for US residents. Those who register for the promotion will earn,

  • 2x bonus points for their first two stays
  • 3x bonus points for their third stay
  • 4x bonus points for their fourth stay and onwards

An IHG Rewards Club member can earn up to 100,000 bonus points per stay, and up to a maximum of 400,000 bonus points through the promotion. To earn points in this promotion, one needs to book directly with IHG, as long as the nightly rate is at least USD 30.

With IHG Rewards Club, you earn 10 points per US dollar spent at most brands and 5 points per US dollar at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites). This would mean you are looking to earn:

  • 20-40 bonus points per US Dollar spent at most IHG brands
  • 10-20 bonus points per US Dollar spent at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites

Over and above, IHG Rewards Club elite members will also get their bonus points. As a reminder, Gold Tier members receive a 10% bonus, Platinum Tier members receive a 50% bonus, and Spire Tier members a 100% bonus on the base points.

In a nutshell, IHG has an excellent promotion for up to 4X points, and I am glad they have turned to a straight-shooting promotion as they try and entice people to stay with them again.

What do you make of the new IHG 4x promotion 2020? Make sure to register even if you decide not to make any stays right away.

  1. Hi Ajay,

Could be a dumb question, but couldn’t find anything specific in Terms & Conditions. When they say the offer is only for US residents, stays should also be in US or a US resident with IHG account registered in US can stay in IHG Indian properties and take advantage of the offer.

    I really appreciate your efforts.

    • Understood, Ajay. Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I have my IHG club rewards account registered to my US address. I was able to register for the offer, but was wondering my stays in Hyderabad or Bangalore can count towards that or not. Will give a try to see if it works. Once again, appreciate your fast response.
