World of Hyatt is offering a 40% bonus on points purchased between now and August 9, 2017.
The cost of each point under this promotion works out to 1.71 US cents/INR 1.1 and you can avail the entire 40% bonus only when you purchase 10,000 points or more. There is a 30% bonus for purchases between 5,000 and 9,000 World of Hyatt (WoH) points. The maximum points that can be purchased under this promotion are 55,000, which with the 40% bonus add up to 77,00 WoH points for a price USD 1,320/ INR 85,000.

Last year we spent New Years in Sydney, Australia and used our points for to stay at The Park Hyatt Sydney where we had a room with a view of the Opera House.
The standard rooms here during peak season is priced at USD 1000+. This is a Hyatt Category 7 hotel and for 30,000 points a night we got a great value of INR 2.2 per point . Buying 30,000 points under this offer will cost you USD 510/ INR 32,800 and that’s a super value redemption choice at some of the best Hyatt hotels around the world like the Park Hyatt Tokyo and the Park Hyatt Paris – Vendome.
On the other end of the spectrum, last summer we vacationed in Nepal and stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu for points+cash. This is a Category 1 hotel available at just 5,000 WoH points to redeem a reward night. We opted to book a cash + points rate at 2,500 points + 50 USD/ INR 3,400 per night and then applied Diamond Suite Upgrade to upgrade the room to Regency Suites. Now the standard room here costs about USD 150/ INR 9,600 plus taxes while the regency suite is priced at about USD 450/ INR 29,000 plus taxes a night. Meanwhile buying 5,000 points will just cost you about USD 85/ INR 5,500 under this sale. So you still considerable amount of money.

Like always, I believe before purchasing points you should do your own maths. If you want to add to top your WoH point balance or have redemption in mind at some aspirational Hyatt hotels then this is purchase promotion makes sense.

Ok, but you got a better room in Sydney because of your Platinum status, correct? Don’t think 30K buys a room with a view of the opera house usually. Bloggers always tell only half the story.
@Stephan, to the best of what I know, everyone gets a view of the Opera House, unless the place is full and then you get a room towards the back.
