What can be the benefits of loyalty, you ask? For a start, discounts could be one of them.

World of Hyatt has been offering discounted hotel rates to members for years now. The Hyatt member rate essentially offers a 10% discount on the published Standard rates to all World of Hyatt members. While member rates have been available at Hyatt hotels outside India since 2016, they had introduced in India only a couple of months ago.

In addition to the existing Hyatt member rate, a few days ago Hyatt introduced a new Member Advance Purchase rates as well, which will offer members up to 15% discount on the standard published rate,i.e., an extra 5% discount over and above the member rate.

Similar to the regular advance purchase rates, the member advance rates are available on reservations made at least 14 days before the stay. These rates are fully pre-paid and non-refundable in case of cancellation. It is not mandatory for every hotel to offer these rates. Hotels will opt in and provide limited rooms under these discounted prices. Each World of Hyatt member can only book two rooms under the member advance purchase rates.

I checked the rates at a few Hyatt hotels in India and found that most hotels are offering a member advance purchase rates, but not all. The Hyatt Regency Chandigarh is offering a 12% discount on the member advance purchase rate so that the percentage discount could vary.

The primary idea behind offering discounted rates to members is that hotel companies are trying to cut down travel agent commisions. Therefore, to induce loyalty most hotel chains would instead pass on the benefit directly to the consumer and offer a straight  10% discount along with access to other benefits to members who book their stays directly with the brand.

If you are looking at booking up a stay at Hyatt hotels in India, it is worth taking a look at the Hyatt member rate and the member advance purchase rates as there can be some significant savings. Perhaps a good idea to sign up for the World of Hyatt program now?
