Hello from the wonderful Bora Bora islands! I know I have been missing in action a few weeks but I’ve really been busy with wrapping up work before I could get out on a trip of a lifetime! Shipra and I were looking forward to spending some time away from our respective workplaces, so we have been planning a trip largely on miles and points and status privileges over the course of the year.
About nine days ago indeed, we took off on this trip of a lifetime which we christened the Red Carpet Trip and we’ve so far gone through some wonderful experiences over the past week or so!
First, we both got to fly the amazing Singapore Airlines First Class Suites on the SQ A380s from Mumbai to Los Angeles via Singapore and Tokyo. We loved it!
Shipra also got to celebrate her birthday in the air somewhere in this 25 hours of flying!
And when the crew found out it was our Honeymoon, they sent us a card with their greetings!
After some impressive hospitality from Singapore Airlines, we headed to the Andaz West Hollywood in Los Angeles, where we had a suite confirmed against my Diamond Suite Upgrades from Hyatt. But they topped it up by handing us the keys to the Penthouse Suite, which had some mind-blowing views to boot!
We almost made it to the Star Wars premiere which was in Hollywood the same time as us!
I did take Shipra plane spotting to my favourite In-N-Out Burgers where we managed this shot amongst others along with some burgers Animal Style!
After some good time in Los Angeles, we headed out on Air Tahiti Nui to French Polynesia, a destination that has been on our bucket list for a long while! After a couple of planes big and small, we were greeted to this.
And eventually this view was from home for a few days at the InterContinental Bora Bora Thalasso Resort and Spa!
And now, we are onwards and upwards from Bora Bora to the next destination. Stay tuned!
I will of course write detailed posts about each of these in the days ahead.
Happy Holidays to all of you!
Ajay, I look forward to your report to compare notes. Coincidentally, we were in Bora Bora as well around Christmas 2015 for a trip of a lifetime. It is a spectacularly beautiful place. Based on the dates and times that I can infer of your trip, I wouldn’t be surprised if we may have crossed paths with you at some point at the airports in either BOB or PPT.
We stayed at the St. Regis in BOB and were absolutely blown away by our room and the service. Now that we are back to reality, all I am doing is thinking about the amazing water and the next time I will be back.
Congrats on the much awaited trip. It’s always so great to read your trip reports, it is so much more replace the to us Indians. Having been to Maldives, I always thought Maldives & Bora Bora are identical… But guess I was wrong… Bora Bora Looks –

Curious to know your booking process for SQ Suites. SQ is getting very stingy at releasing space for KF members too.
Did you search for confirmed availability and lock the dates or did you waitlist the awards?
