The HDFC Bank 10X Reward Points for the Smartbuy programme were rumoured to be over in March 2019, and instead, a new 5X Rewards Points programme was implemented for a very brief moment. Then, the 10X Rewards programme was brought back for April 2019 and then kept renewing through September 2019.
The HDFC Smart Buy 10X Offer has changed over time. Unlike the last years where the rules were the same for all cards, and the value changed only for the points per credit card, the new Smartbuy 10X promotion has now made it a promotion which is different for different products. This is now shown with the new banner for the 10X Reward points promotion.
When you click through to the promotion, you would see, the HDFC 10X Smartbuy promotion has the date of October 2019 (extended through November 2019). Unlike earlier, the 10X promotion is now only limited to Infinia, Diners Club cards and the Regalia card. Everyone else gets 5% cashback.
That means you could earn 10X points for the following activities with HDFC SmartBuy here on:
- Flight Booking
- Hotel Booking
- Shopping via Flipkart and Amazon
- Comparison shopping via the SmartBuy website
Different credit cards now, however, have a different ceiling on the number of points you can earn.
- Infinia has a ceiling of earning 25,000 HDFC Reward Points per month.
- Diners Club Black cards have a ceiling of earning 15,000 HDFC Reward Points per month.
- Other Diners Club/ Regalia cards have a ceiling of earning 5,000 HDFC Reward points per month.
- Other Credit/Debit cards will get a 5% cashback, capped at INR 1,000 per month.
Also, with respect to EMIs, the whole lookout has changed. Now, Smartbuy 10X is applicable only for EMI Transactions (on flights / Hotels / Flipkart store) on Infinia or Diners Club or Regalia only. Not applicable on EMI transactions on any other card.
So, primarily, the Smartbuy site can now be used in the following manner to maximise the promotion:
- Infinia: Maximum Spend of INR 83,333 at Smartbuy will get you 25,000 bonus Reward Points in October 2019 at the rate of 33% cashback (30% bonus and 3% regular, each point earned is INR 1)
- Diners Club Black: Maximum Spend of INR 50,000 at Smartbuy will get you 15,000 bonus Reward Points in October 2019 at the rate of 33% cashback (30% bonus and 3% regular, each point earned is INR 1)
- Diners Club Miles/Premium/Regalia: Maximum Spend of INR 20,835 at Smartbuy will get you 5,000 bonus Reward Points in October 2019 at the rate of 12% cashback (Each point earned is INR 0.5)
- Diners Club Rewardz: Maximum Spend of INR 27,779 at Smartbuy will get you 5,000 bonus Reward Points in October 2019 at the rate of 6% cashback (Each point earned is INR 0.3)
AS FOR AIR BOOKING REWARD POINT VALUE IS 1 REWARD POINT=1 AIR MILE.
THEN WHAT IS VALUE OF REWARD POINT FOR HOTEL BOOKING THRO SMARTBYE.??
IS IT 1=1 OR WHAT??
Which out of DCB and Infinia do you suggest I get? I have a DCB with a 2-2.5 lac spend each month with most of it on smart buy. Should I switch to infinia for higher 10X cap? Are infinia transfer partners the same?
Ola is added as a 10x partner now along with Firstcry. Good move.
Does it mean we will get any product from Flipkart/Amazon at 33% discount if we have Diners black?
HI, is 10X only on EMI transaction on smartbuy to buy flight tickets or even non-EMI transactions are valid for 10X ?
Thanks
Shree
Wanted to understand how you come to 1 rs per point value. In cash conversion or vouchers, HDFC gives 50 p per point.
@akshay shankar I have been using it as one rupee for years now, to book travel tickets.
Is my understanding correct that, for an item worth say 50K INR where I want to pay in full , I’m better off getting it in Amazon for 10x rewards, since it needs to be converted to EMI for Flipkart…
On the other hand, would one earn rewards for an item worth 1L INR bought from Flipkart and converted to EMI transaction over 2 months, essentially earning 15k points for current and next month?
For better understanding :
Flipkart 10x applicable on EMI & Non-EMI transactions
Amazon 10x applicable only on Non-EMI transactions
Hope this helps.
Yes! Making a mental note that EMI transactions to be on Flipkart! thank you.
Payzapp is gone as partner brand? Initially was till end of Dec now doesn’t show.
Also bus booking via Smart Buy link is working but not mentioned in main website.
Still unsure about Payzapp. In Sept 2019 i made Airtel Postpaid bill payment and i “think” i got 10x points, as i was tracking my points for the whole month and suddenly there was a spike in points after that postpaid payment, and the difference added up if i considered 10x for the postpaid patyment.
Just Now, 1st Oct 2019, i have made 4 payzapp payments Rent, Mobile, Broadband, Electricty & have noted my points. Let’s see which transaction throws up 10x 😀 (if at all).
If it gives 10x for Rent Payment .. then balle balle !!
Made my Oct rent payment with Payzapp using Diners Black. not sure if it qualifies for 10x but here is for hoping.
Payzapp is no longer a partner, stopped from 30 Sept. So only payments made during Sept count.
@JG Payzapp was stopped as per Sep 1 itself.
My bad. So only partner for August month.
Is the Smartbuy 10X offer on Infinia valid only for EMI purchases? If I do not opt for EMI do I still get 10X points?
Ajay,
Is there a way one can get both Infinia and DCB? Does HDFC issue multiple cards?
yes, not by default though. Have to be a big customer, need to go through your relationship manager.
Any chances of Ola / Uber / BigBasket coming back?
10x on Uber Premier available till Dec 31, 2019.
Just deep dive into smartbuy!
S&S
How do you say its still there I don’t find anything related to uber on smartbuy.
Search properly? 🙂
https://offers.smartbuy.hdfcbank.com/offer_details/13210
It says maximum 15K per Calendar Month for DCB.
So does it mean that if I spend 50K today i.e. 30 Sep 2019, I will get 15K RP and again
if I spend 50K tomorrow i.e 1st Oct 2019, I will get another 15K RP?
yes
Rookie mistake on using Smartbuy-Amazon for DCB. Clicking link of Amazon for page redirection and purchasing items which are in the cart already.
Re-reading through smartbuy tells me, I have to search for the items from the redirected Amazon page (note- you will see HDFC Smartbuy in the Amazon search bar) to qualify for the 10x rewards.
Flipkart is relatively easy since they have a dedicated link for HDFC Smartbuy redirected landing page.
Once you start searching, the HDFC Smartbuy in the Amazon search bar will be gone. How do they know that the transaction is qualified for 10x rewards? Even if we’ve done it correctly, and they say that it’s not done correctly, what proof can we show to them?
I think once you go through the smartbuy page to amazon website after entering your phone number and last 4 digits , any item bought in amazon and paid through the infinia card should qualify for 10x.
Missed find replace. June 2019 at some places.
@JG Thanks. fixed
