GoAir finally launched International operations last month, with the addition of Phuket and Male as their first destinations. GoAir operates 3x weekly from Mumbai and 2x weekly from New Delhi to both Male and Phuket. They have added one more rotation on these routes. Clearly, GoAir is raising the bugle of fighting back with IndiGo stepping up international presence.
Last week, we talked about how GoAir is planning to make Phuket a hub and add flights from 8 more Indian cities by 2019 end. Now, Bengaluru airport is the first of the 8 Indian airports to receive a non-stop flight to Phuket. GoAir plans to operate a 3x weekly flight on Bangalore to Phuket route from December 9, 2018. The schedule for the flight is,
G8 041 BLR0415-0930HKT 32N 147
G8 042 HKT1115-1335BLR 32N 147
GoAir is also adding a flight to Male from Bangalore. GoAir will operate a 2x weekly flight on the Bangalore to Male route starting December 9, 2018. The schedule for the flight is,
G8 043 BLR1410-1550MLE 32N 37
G8 044 MLE1650-1930BLR 32N 37
Fares start at INR 17k roundtrip Economy and INR 49k for roundtrip Business (??) class on the Bangalore to Phuket flight.
And INR 15k roundtrip Economy and INR 35k for roundtrip Business class on the Bangalore to Male flight.
Air India was the first airline to start operations on the Bangalore to Male route. Air India offers 6x weekly flights and is now caught in the crosshairs of the IndiGo – GoAir tussle.
Bottomline
GoAir is an easy winner due to flight timings on Bengaluru to Male route. This new flight adds another Thailand connection from Bangalore. Passengers now have the option of travelling to Bangkok on IndiGo (apart from other carriers) and return from Phuket on GoAir.
What are your thoughts about the new flights from Bangalore to Phuket and Male?
I Found very useful Information. Nicely explained, Keep sharing such wonderful Information.
Sadly for them Indigo will push them out.
Indian carriers should try for more variety of destinations in Southeast Asia and Central Asia. Phuket and Male will depend exclusively on stimulating outbound Indian tourists.
@Girish I guess that there will be some sort of support from the Thai tourism boards for this expansion. But Phuket being carpet bombed with flights is not going to accelerate their place in the Thai leagues for Indians I guess. I mean all flights going full may not happen.
