Go Air & Yatra now earn Extra Membership Rewards on Amex

Membership Rewards is the currency you earn for spending on your American Express Credit and Charge cards across the world. The value of the Membership Rewards points is different around the world, so lets focus on India here, because we are discussing the Indian Membership Rewards points right now. In terms of airline miles conversion, 2 Membership Reward points convert to 1 JPMile, Avios, Flying Returns miles and so on. American Express awards you 2 MR points per INR 100 spent on most cards, and 2.5 MR points per INR 100 spent on your Platinum tier American Express cards such as the Platinum Charge Card and the Platinum Reserve Credit Card. American Express also runs a program called Extra Membership Rewards. This program awards you extra MR when you spend with certain partners who may have tied up with Amex to offer extra Amex currency to their customers as rewards. Goairamex Now, Go Air has recently signed up to become an Extra Membership Rewards partner with American Express. This means, they are offering, over and above the regular 2 or 2.5 MR per INR 100 spend, another 5 MR per INR 100 spend on www.goair.in, which is their website for buying tickets online. The Extra MR offer is valid till March 31, 2015 and on the following American Express Credit/Charge cards:

  • American Express Platinum Card
  • American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card
  • American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card
  • American Express Gold Card
  • American Express Gold Credit Card
  • American Express Platinum Corporate Card
  • American Express Corporate Card
  • American Express Gold Corporate Card

yatraamex Yatra.com, which is an online travel agency based out of India, is also offering 10 MR extra, over and above your regular MR points to book hotel rooms with their website. The terms and conditions remain the same, and the same credit/charge cards listed above can  be used (no co-branded credit cards basically). If you are a Membership Rewards Points collector, you could benefit from these offers. Though, I would surely be using my Citibank PremierMiles Credit Card in both these cases, because I get 10 PremierMiles/INR 100 spent which transfer on a 1-1 basis to other frequent flyer programs.
