IHG Rewards Club is on a roll these days. They have been running some great promotions already, for instance, the new Accelerate promotion, the 10,000 points for Club InterContinental rates and the Book Direct promotion which gets you 40,000 points. Another promotion called the Stay again again for free night gets you 71,000 points, including a 1000 points just for registering. All of those promotions need some business in exchange of giving you rewards. However, this one takes the cake for giving you a free IHG points for doing nothing but registering.
See, just like the other hotel chains, IHG has a Business Rewards program for booking on behalf of others. You Earn 3 points for every $1 spent into your IHG Rewards Club account. This counts for events, accommodation and other meetings. To become a part of this club you just need an IHG Rewards Club number.
Now, Crowne Plaza is running a special promotion to award everyone 1000 IHG Rewards Club points in case you sign up for Business Rewards.

I wasn’t previously a member of the “Business Rewards” program. Do you think that will change to 1,000 points in a few days? Or did it just not work….

@Nick, I think the activation gets you 0 points maybe and then you get 1000 points within 30 days. Check your offers inside IHG RC to see your exact registration.
A bunch of these are Asia, Middle East and Africa only. The business sign up scares me a bit as it might mess up corporate booking codes that I currently use for reservations.
You get 1,000 IHG *Business* Rewards point for signing up, not 1,000 IHG Rewards points (the normal points that most people collect).
@Tom they are the same points going to same account. What is the difference if you could illustrate?
someone pointed out that by signing up business reward points, you forego all Gold, Platinum, etc earning levels, etc and only earn 10 points per dollar rather than 3?

@Jason, not really. That is not my understanding. I’ve been a member on both programs for a while now, and I earn the bonuses on my own stays as an elite member.
