Flights to and from Bengaluru will be disrupted between February 5-12, 2025

AeroIndia 2025, the airshow for defence contractors to showcase their capabilities, held once every two years, is back in Bengaluru this February. And that means that there will be disruption to the air traffic operations in Bengaluru in the coming days.

Bengaluru Airport will be unavailable for flight operations at various hours between February 5 and 12, 2025

Like the earlier versions, AeroIndia 2025 will be held at the Yelahanka Air Force Base in Bengaluru. This means that airport operations at Bengaluru airport will have to be paused to accommodate defence air traffic at various hours during the run-up to the event and on the days when the flying display will be conducted.

The airport will be shut for operations at the following times, as per the notice to airmen issued over the weekend:

  • February 5 – 8, 2025: 0900 to 1200 hours, 1400 to 1700 hours.
  • February 9, 2025: 0900 to 1200 hours.
  • February 10, 2025: 0900 to 1200 hours, 1400 to 1600 hours.
  • February 11 – 12, 2025: 1200 hours to 1500 hours.

Airlines haven’t gotten around to reacting to the NOTAM yet, and hence flights are still on sale. For instance, this is Air India selling a flight arriving at 10:30 AM on February 9, 2025.

Passengers booked to travel to Bengaluru on these dates should expect to hear about rescheduling and cancellations of their flights in the coming days once the airlines have concluded the best course of action to service the station during these days. The airport has up to 40 aircraft movements in peak hours, so many domestic flights will be affected. Now that capacity will be vastly curtailed, ticket prices might even go up.

Make sure to keep your email and phone number information current with the air tickets so that when something changes, you hear from the airline rather than the information arriving at your travel agent’s desk and you never finding out about it.

Bottomline

Between February 5 and 12, 2025, Bengaluru airport operations will be affected by the AeroIndia Airshow, which is being held near the airport. The flight closure hours differ on various dates, but this will most definitely lead to some flight operations being brought forward, delayed, or even cancelled. Keep an eye on your email and text messages to hear more from the airlines if you are booked to travel into or out of BLR on those dates.

What do you think about this move that leads to the closure of Bengaluru Airport every couple of years for a few hours?
