Flash Sale: 100% IHG bonus points on purchases until June 8, 2019

IHG Rewards Club is back with a 100% IHG Bonus points purchase promotion through Saturday, June 8, 2019. 100% bonus is one of the best that IHG offers on buying points.

In this round of points sale, the 100% bonus will only kick in when you purchase a minimum of 7,000 points. Points can be purchased in multiples of 1,000 IHG Rewards Club points. If you buy the maximum allowable 100,000 IHG Rewards Club points, you will earn a total of 200,000 points for 1,000 US Dollars. That drops the price of each IHG point to 0.5 US cents or INR 0.35. You can either choose to buy the points yourself or receive it as a gift. It will take up to 2 days for the points credit to reflect in your account.

IHG Rewards Club has over 100 million members and has over 5,000 hotels in nearly 100 countries. The group currently has close to 30 hotels in India which are mostly mid-scale, though there is a reasonable footprint across Asia.

IHG does have some aspirational properties in their portfolio and some hotels where you could gain value from redemptions such as the Intercontinental ANA, Tokyo. A room night here in the Cherry Blossom season is priced at USD 500 a night. However, if you choose to redeem points, then a night’s stay will only cost you about USD 280 for 55,000 Rewards Club points. That reduces the cost of each night’s stay by 45%.

IHG points can come very handy if you are looking for redemption stays in Europe or the USA or if you want to use them for PointBreaks where you can get a night for just 5,000 – 15,000 points.

Like always, I believe that buying points without having a redemption in mind is not a good idea. But the vacation season is on, and if you are planning a break, then it may be a good idea to top up your account now.
