Etihad to bring its A321LR to Kolkata September 2025 onwards

Close on the heels of Emirates upgrading one of its Kolkata operations, Etihad has announced that it will bring its newest product, the A321LR, to Kolkata as well.

Etihad’s A321LR to operate flights to Kolkata, effective September 2025

Etihad has 20 A321LR (Long Range) aircraft on order. The first of these will be delivered in July 2025, and overall, the fleet is expected to build up to 10 such aircraft within 2025 itself.

Etihad promises to set a new standard for single-aisle flying with the debut of its all-new Airbus A321LR, delivering wide-body comfort on short and medium-haul routes. The A321LR introduces an all-new First Suite—a private, enclosed space with a sliding door, lie-flat bed, elevated dining, and bespoke design touches.

It features a large personal screen displaying the Etihad logo, a side table with a marble-like surface, and ambient lighting. The seat is equipped with a seatbelt and has a control panel for adjustments. The overall setting is elegant and designed for comfort.

Starting September 26, 2025, all Etihad flights between Zayed International Airport, Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata (CCU), will be operated by the A321LR, offering Etihad’s passengers an upgraded travel experience across all cabin classes. The aircraft is equipped with luxury First Suites, fully lie-flat Business seats, and a cutting-edge Economy class featuring ultra-modern 4K touchscreens and high-speed Wi-Fi, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the journey.

Here is how the schedule looks for the A321LR operations into Kolkata.

The flights are between Abu Dhabi and Kolkata, with various departure and arrival times, operating on specific days of the week. All flights use the A321LR aircraft.

With this, Kolkata will become the first Indian city to receive A321LR operations with Etihad. It was earlier supposed to also fly to Chennai (where Etihad sponsors the CSK), but that plan was cancelled after initial disclosure.

The Airbus A321LR is designed to bring wide-body comfort to a single-aisle aircraft, offering enhanced space, privacy, and premium amenities. The First Suites offer an exclusive experience with forward-facing, fully flat beds in a 1-1 configuration, while Business Class features 14 lie-flat seats, ensuring maximum comfort on medium-haul routes. Economy Class passengers will enjoy next-generation seating, complete with advanced in-flight entertainment and connectivity, making every journey more enjoyable.

Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, said

India is a key market for Etihad, and we are delighted to elevate our Kolkata service with our latest A321LR aircraft. With this upgrade, our guests can now enjoy a superior travel experience, whether in our luxurious First Suites, Business Class lie-flat seats, or next-generation Economy cabin. This investment underlines our ongoing commitment to providing world-class service and greater connectivity across the Indian subcontinent.

Bottomline

Etihad will bring the A321LR, their yet-to-be-inducted new jet, which even has a First Class product, to India in September 2025. The new product will fly all the services to Kolkata, making it the first city in the country to receive an Etihad A321LR-operated service.

What do you think of Etihad’s plans now that it is offering its new aircraft in India as well?
