Etihad Guest has just rolled out one of its most ambitious and interactive promotions to date — the Race to Fly challenge — offering up a whopping 5 million Etihad Guest Miles as prizes. The gamified promotion is designed to celebrate the launch of Etihad’s new destinations and create buzz around its expanding global network.
Etihad’s Race to Fly Promotion
Etihad Guest has unveiled a bold new promotion inviting members to embark on a real-world race to visit 15 of Etihad’s newest destinations. The first three participants to complete this journey will share a prize pool of 9 million Etihad Guest Miles, with the fastest traveller earning a staggering 5 million miles.
That’s enough for 500+ Economy adventures, 70+ trips in Business, or 40+ unforgettable journeys in First.
Mark Potter, Managing Director of Etihad Guest, said
This challenge embodies Etihad’s purpose to give flight to ambition. We’re inviting our adventurous members and travellers to explore 15 incredible destinations while competing for our largest-ever miles prize.
The Challenge: Visit 15 New Destinations
Between May 26, 2025, and May 25, 2026, registered Etihad Guest members are challenged to fly on Etihad-operated flights to or from the following 15 destinations:
- Addis Ababa
- Algiers
- Atlanta
- Chiang Mai
- Hanoi
- Hong Kong
- Krabi
- Medan
- Peshawar
- Phnom Penh
- Prague
- Sochi
- Taipei
- Tunis
- Warsaw
The goal is to be among the first three members to complete flights to or from all these destinations. The prizes are as follows:
- 1st Place: 5,000,000 Etihad Guest Miles
- 2nd Place: 3,000,000 Etihad Guest Miles
- 3rd Place: 1,000,000 Etihad Guest Miles
These miles can be redeemed for flights, upgrades, and various rewards through the Etihad Guest programme.

How to Participate
To join the challenge:
- Register: Sign up for the challenge at racetofly.etihad.com.
- Fly: Book and complete Etihad-operated flights to or from each of the 15 destinations within the challenge period.
- Track Progress: Use the dedicated race dashboard to monitor your journey and see how you rank against other participants.
Only mileage-earning tickets are eligible; award tickets booked using miles (Guest Seats) do not count towards the challenge. If a route gets cancelled, it will be exempt from the challenge, and the challenge will go ahead with the rest of the announced routes.
This is a challenging promotion
The mind races back to the SAS promotion from last year, and Etihad has taken it up five notches by applying a 5X multiple on the first prize. But this is a challenge nevertheless. For instance, how does or why does an Indian even get to Peshawar in Pakistan? Similarly, the rest of the world might not be okay to fly to Sochi in Russia at the moment. Third, unlike the SAS promotion, where everyone who completed the task won the prize, here, only the top 3 get the top winnings.
Bottomline
Etihad’s “Race to Fly” is a unique opportunity for adventurous travellers to combine their passion for exploration with the chance to earn a substantial mileage reward. While the challenge is demanding, the potential payoff is significant for those who can navigate the logistics and outpace the competition.

I guess Indians are out of the picture. How do you get to Peshawar?
@SJ Singh, how do the americans and the europeans go to Sochi?
So basically it is open for only middle easterns in the disguise of promotion, as they can visit any of these countries without visas and indeed can visit all these places no bars hold. what a trickery in the name of promotion.
Russia is still issuing some visas to Americans even outside the US.
The airline’s promotion for gamblers chasing the promotion is probably best suited for a UAE citizen who is resident in Abu Dhabi. At least one of the 3 likely winners will likely be someone who flies the inaugural AUH flight to the mentioned Algerian airport in November if that flight actually launches then. And even then it will be a losing gamble if 3 or more promo chasers are on that AUH to Algiers flight.
