2 days only: Etihad Guest 50% off on redemptions to AUH

Etihad Guest keeps coming up with promotions all the while, which is a great approach for the members who can find value either by adding more points to their kitty or getting redemptions at a discount. Like just this morning, I wrote about the bonus promotion Etihad Guest is offering for folks who travel on their maiden A380 service from India (out of Mumbai).

I have to take the blame for the short notice here, but Etihad Guest has been running a weeklong promotion, valid till tomorrow, which offers Etihad Guest members a 50% off on redemption bookings on Etihad to Abu Dhabi using the promotion.

As a part of the promotion, Etihad Guest is offering a 50% off on the number of miles required for booking a flight online using your Etihad Guest Miles. In this case, you need to use the promotion code GETAWAY50 before initiating the search to be able to see the 50% off on miles. The amount of money payable towards surcharges and taxes remains the same as earlier.

The promotion is valid for travel booked between May 7, 2016 and December 26, 2016, with the blackout period of July 21, 2016 to September 18, 2016. During the blackout period 100% miles would be charged. To be able to benefit from this promotion, you do need to be able to find Guest Seats on Etihad, which is their version of saver seats.

How to find and book?

When you are searching for flights on the Etihad Guest redemption page, add the GETAWAY50 promo code at the end before making the search. Take for example my attempt to book an Economy flight in November 2016 with Etihad on the BOM-AUH route.

On the next page you see redemptions with a star next to them, which means they are discounted at 50% in terms of the number of miles.

Like you see, in this case, for a round trip flight, this is the number of miles and money I am asked for, inclusive of the discount:

Remember, the promotion is only valid on flights on Etihad metal, and direct flights (no stopovers). While regular Etihad Guest flights can be cancelled at 2000 miles, in this case the promotion states that redemptions are non-refundable.

Bottomline

This may be good idea to redeem miles right now, as long as you have firm plans you won’t change later. But do keep in mind, you can only go to Abu Dhabi with this promotion. Which sucks in a big way!

So will you guys take advantage of this promotion?
