Etihad Airways Jaipur exit as of March 1

Three years after Etihad Airways Jaipur and Abu Dhabi connection were launched, the airline will discontinue flights between the two cities from March 2018.

Etihad will provide connecting flights via Delhi or Mumbai after March 1 using Jet Airways. Etihad Airways started Jaipur operations in a two-class configured Airbus A320 aircraft in 2015, and is now cutting the route on the back of poor traffic.

Jaipur has its fair share of international connectivity, however, no premium airline seems to fly there. The existing connections from Jaipur include SpiceJet & Air India to Dubai, Air Arabia to Sharjah, Air Asia and Thai Smile to Bangkok, Scoot to Singapore and Oman Air to Muscat.

While Etihad is not in the pink of health right now, this is just smart capacity planning by the airline and perhaps cutting down this station won’t be a big dent in their network planning at all.

Are you going to miss this route on Etihad Airways? Do contact your travel agent if you haven’t already heard from the airline.
