Delhi may require CoVid-19 negative report for those arriving from 5 Indian States

Last year, Maharashtra government guidelines for inter-state travel mandated that anyone travelling into Maharashtra from Delhi, Goa, Gujarat and Rajasthan need to be evaluated for CoVid-19 before arrival inside the state since late November 2020. Subsequently, Maharashtra has added Kerala to this list in the wake of rising numbers in Kerala. On the same lines, new Karnataka Covid Travel rules insist on a report from Maharashtra and Kerala travellers coming into the state. Now, there are new Delhi CoVid Travel Rules.

Delhi Covid Travel Rules

Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) is expected to notify that Delhi will be here on putting in place requirements for travellers entering the state to present a CoVid-19 negative report for arriving in Delhi, almost a full year after the pandemic started.

People travelling to Delhi from the following states by flights, trains or buses will be required to present a negative RT-PCR test for arrival:

  • Maharashtra
  • Kerala
  • Chhattisgarh
  • Madhya Pradesh
  • Punjab

Those entering Delhi by road using a car have been exempted.

The new Delhi Covid Travel Rules will come in place for travel starting from February 26, 2021, onwards (the rules have not been put out in public, as of February 26, 2021, however, so not implemented). For now, these requirements are in place till March 15, 2021, till noon. One will not be allowed to board a plane to Delhi without presenting the negative test report.

The official orders on this aspect will be uploaded later during the day. We will update this story for details such as transfer passengers and if testing on arrival is available.

Bottomline

Delhi Government is expected to mandate that before you land in the state, you will need to be tested for CoVid-19 and have a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours before arriving in Delhi. Road and Rail travel has similar notifications. This is expected to be valid for travel from the five states mentioned above from February 26, 2021, onwards.
