A lot of commotion has gone around with respect to Covishield, the Indian-licensed version of the AstraZeneca Oxford collaboration (original is marketed as Vaxzevria), given that it is the same formula, and SII is also mandated to supply 40% of its production to AstraZeneca. However, the one benefit that did not come through as anticipated, was the automatic recognition for the CoviShield vaccine in other parts of the world, because regulators treat SII and AZ as different entities and different products.

Anyhow, at the moment, various countries have started accepting the Covishield vaccine for allowing people into their countries, which include Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

France now accepts Covishield vaccinated travellers

France announced on July 19, 2021, that they will recognise the Covishield vaccine, and hence start to accept visitors who have taken two doses of the Covishield vaccine.

While India is currently listed as a “red-list” country as per French guidelines, there has been a relaxation for travel for those who are fully vaccinated. As per a note circulated by Atout France,

Since July 17, all vaccinated persons coming from countries classified as green, orange or red can enter France without restrictions.

Per France, as of July 18, 2021, they have recognised Covishield. You will need to present a proof of vaccination, and can only enter after a clear 14 days of your second dose of the vaccine. Also, 2 weeks after injection for those who did contract Covid-19 (only 1 injection required).

In case you intend to travel without a vaccine, though, you will still be subject to RT-PCR tests and quarantine. As per the rules, for unvaccinated travellers from red-list countries, you need a compelling reason to travel. The list of applicable reasons can be found here. You will need to present a negative RT-PCR test with samples taken 48 hours before departure and you may be subject to a quarantine.

Bottomline

If you are fully vaccinated with Covishield in India, Paris is not far away and you will be admitted without any trouble here on. Just make sure to follow the appropriate procedures and carry proof of your vaccination and if required, upload it as well.
