Club Vistara offers upgrade vouchers to their elite tier members, just like other frequent flyer programmes. Silver tier gets 1 Upgrade Voucher, Gold Tier gets 3 Upgrade Vouchers and Platinum Tier gets 5 Upgrade Voucher Vistara flights.
These upgrade vouchers offer you a one-class upgrade, which means Economy class gets upgraded to Premium Economy, and Premium Economy class gets upgraded to Business Class. For the longest time, Vistara’s vouchers would only allow for an upgrade at the airport. I tried this out for the first time back in 2017, and it worked like a charm.
Now, Club Vistara is stepping up their game. Last week, they have also made it possible for members of the programme to confirm upgrades ahead of their flight, rather than just at the airport. You can now just call their customer service centre after booking your flight, and share your Club Vistara number and voucher code, along with the flight details for which an upgrade is required. If redemption seats are available, Vistara will take one from there and confirm your upgrade early on itself.
If you don’t get an upgrade ahead, you can continue to use the vouchers at the airport, where they will give you an upgrade as per the earlier procedure. Remember, however, the upgrade ahead is only valid for digital vouchers and not physical vouchers. Here is the matrix Vistara has created for how to use your vouchers.
I am not sure at the moment who gets digital vouchers and who gets physical vouchers. For instance, this year, my renewal package got me physical vouchers. I am not sure if I can use them ahead of the flight or not, but I will report back once I get more details on that.

I would like to add that points redemption tickets can also be upgraded against the voucher, which is not possible in Jet Airways.
Thanks for the information. I traveled Delhi Bangalore yesterday, approached the counter with physical upgrade voucher around one and half hours before the flight departure, the agent told me upgrade can be done only one hour before the flight departure and suggested to go to the lounge it can be done there. So we went to the lounge and around 1 hour before the departure upgrade was done. I have got voucher upgrade done in past also generally it is smooth.
I upgraded using my gold physical vouchers last week for travel in Feb. So it works for physical as well.
The Gold physical vouchers seem to available in the Club Vistara account in digital form as well. So it seems digital is present in all tiers.

I think digital vouchers are issued to silver tier only.
