Club Vistara, the frequent flyer program of Air Vistara, has finally revealed all their aspects. Here is a roundup:

To get people to sample their frequent flyer program and their elite benefits, they are offering 6-months trials of Gold Status to those who are members of the Taj Inner Circle loyalty program, and hold the Gold tier in the Taj Inner Circle Program. Gold Tier is the top-tier of Club Vistara.

To be able to gain the benefits of Club Vistara’s Gold Tier, you’d basically need to sign up for a fresh account with Vistara, and then use this link to be able to register. Here are the benefits offered by Club Vistara at their Gold Tier:

• Guaranteed reservations up to 48 hours prior to a flight.
• 10 Kg extra baggage allowance.
• Earn 7 points for every 100 INR spent
• Priority airport check-in at the business counter, priority boarding, baggage handling and waitlist clearance.
• Access to lounges and partner lounges.
• Dedicated Club Vistara helpline.

You will be able to earn a trial status for 6 months only, and you need to fly worth 20,000 Tier points in these 6 months to retain your Gold status in the Club Vistara program. If you are not able to generate the 20,000 tier points worth of flying, you’ll be downgraded to the Silver status in the program, which will be available to you for a full year.

In a way, this is an accelerated way of getting Gold status for 1.5 years, since you start with the Gold Status itself, hence you are able to earn Tier Points @ 7 Tier Points/INR 100 instead of 5 at Base and 6 at Silver. And then, you get to keep it for a lower barrier of 20,000 tier points instead of 25,000 which would have normally been the pro-rated requirement in 6 months.

This promotion is for new members only, so existing members cannot gain status from this promotion, at least not at the moment. The promotion is valid till June 30, 2015.

Bottomline: This promotion is a great way for Vistara to attract frequent members of the Taj Hotels program to try them out. There is a no-questions asked 6 month status upgrade. If you like it, you should try to keep it! However, why are the existing members not benefiting, is beyond me.
