About 4-5 weeks ago, American Express implemented some changes on their Jet Airways American Express co-branded card. While they marginally reduced mileage-earning, like they do almost every now and then, they did add some new benefits for card holders. Firstly, they added lounge access in some cities where there was none. You can check the details in my earlier post here.

Gold Tier Membership for Trident Privilege

One of the other changes was going to be the addition of Gold Tier Membership for the Trident Privilege program, along with two upgrade certificates. Now, I don’t really stay at Trident hotels around India, but since they are offering a benefit, I’d love to pick it up for the rare day when I need it. As per the offer, membership in Gold tier is valid for 2 years from the enrolment date, but if you don’t record a stay within a 12 month period, you get downgraded to Red tier. Here are the benefits:

• 11 points for every INR 100 spent at the participating hotels
• Savings of 50% on rack rate at weekends (Friday to Sunday) in any suite
• Savings of 15% on laundry charges
• Savings of 15% on Business Centre charges
• Express check in
• Express check out
• Early check in (subject to availability)
• Late check out till 3 P.M. (subject to availability)
• Double occupancy at no extra charge

To get yourself enrolled, you need to fill up this form in hard copy and send it to American Express India’s office for them to be able to process it for you. Now, Trident Privilege just got voted as the runner up for this year’s Conde Nast Traveller (India) Reader Travel Awards, so I am sure in collective wisdom there are enough takers for this program and I’ve missed something over the years.

Preferred Hotels Group iPrefer Program Gold Tier

Preferred Hotels Group is a marketing alliance between various smaller hotel chains and boutiques, such as the Leela group from India. They do have a membership program called iPrefer, where you get to earn a point for every $ spent, and here are the benefits listed per various tiers:
