Cathay Pacific, one of the last airlines out of the Covid cage, is now starting to resume more flights out of India. The airline has just begun offering reservations on their Chennai – Hong Kong flights, which will resume in 2024.
Cathay Pacific to return to Chennai in February 2024
Cathay Pacific has announced a return to Chennai as of February 2024. The airline will operate three weekly services between Hong Kong and Chennai as of February 1, 2024. The airline had started loading the flight on September 8, 2023, for reservations, but today, they officially confirmed the flight will be operational as of February 1.
The operations will be with a Boeing 777-300ER, and here is the schedule for the flight. The first flight will operate on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from Hong Kong at 2150 HKT, arriving in Chennai at 0100 the following day. The airline will operate a 777 with the Business/Premium Economy/Economy cabin configuration on this route.
Redemptions on Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong
With the Cathay Pacific product fully restored now, the airline is a great option to fly to Hong Kong. Regarding redemption requirements, Cathay has opened economy class inventory for just 10K points + INR 6600 (approx) using Cathay Pacific’s own AsiaMiles programme (this will change come October 2023). You can still book now for the following year.
You can also use Avios to redeem (via British Airways Executive Club) for 13000 Avios and INR 11300 (approx) in Economy Class.
Business Class redemptions are for 25000 Asiamiles and INR 6,900 (approx).

Cathay Pacific is returning to Chennai, with the first Hong Kong – Chennai flight to be operated on February 1, 2024. The airline will operate three times a week into Chennai for now. The flight will operate with a 3-class Boeing 777-300ER. There is reasonable award availability for both Business and Economy Class via Cathay Pacific Asia Miles and other programmes.
