Citibank is on a roll with transfer bonuses over the past couple of days it seems. After signing up new transfer partners in IHG Rewards Club, Hilton HHonors, Taj Inner Circle, Malaysia Airlines & Eva Air last month, they are now running a transfer bonus with Singapore Airlines. And now, they are running another transfer bonus with their new partner Hilton HHonors. This time around, if you transfer 10,000 PremierMiles, which convert into 15,000 Hilton HHonors points (due to the 1PM=1.5 HHonors conversion rate), you get an added bonus of 5,000 HHonors points as well. There are no limits to the amount of PremierMiles you can transfer under this promotion and the amount of extra 5,000 HHonors points you can…

20% bonus on Citibank miles conversion to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles
One good part about earning miles neutrally is the choice of transfer partners offered, and the bonuses they run sometimes. For the past two years, we have seen transfer bonuses from Etihad & British Airways on Citibank products, and Jet Airways as well, for Citibank credit cards ex-PremierMiles. Just yesterday, Citibank and Singapore Airlines have begin to offer a 20% bonus on conversion of Citibank points/miles to your Singapore KrisFlyer frequent flyer account. Now while I won’t be able to post a full review of the KrisFlyer program at this moment, but like most programs in Asia, they charge fuel surcharges, and lots of them. However, the Singapore Airlines product is usually top notch, and you get access to a…
Citibank PremierMiles adds Taj InnerCircle, IHG, Hilton HHonors, EvaAir & Malaysia Airlines as conversion partners
My favourite travel credit card, Citibank PremierMiles, has recently worked on its conversion partner list, and added quite some new partners on the list over the past few weeks. The last major addition, to the best of my memory, was in June 2012, when Avios and Delta Skymiles were brought on board as conversion partners. Later than that, Etihad Guest was added to the list. Citibank has wanted to make this card the one-stop product for travel requirements in India. Hence, they have been wanting to add hotel partners for a long time, and finally, they have added three of them in this quarter itself. The new hotel partners include: Taj InnerCircle: 10 PremierMiles = 1 TIC Point IHG Rewards…
PremierMiles 50% extra miles bonus have posted
Citibank had offered a 50% bonus miles promotion for spends in August and September 2013. Under the terms & conditions, you would have received 50% bonus miles on all miles earned, i.e., if you earned 10 miles for booking flight tickets, you’d get another 5 miles for booking flight tickets under the promotion making it 15 miles. As a result, I ended up putting a lot of spend on this card, including sometimes booking Jet Airways tickets on this card as well. On Friday, Citibank credited the bonus miles to everyone who was eligible, and yesterday they sent out emails to this effect with the details to everyone who got miles. I personally loved this promotion, since I did not…
Unlimited lounge access on ICICI-Jet-Amex credit cards, and extra JP Miles
ICICI Bank’s Jet Airways co-branded credit cards have now completed about a full year in the business. When they started, they had a lot of issues with putting out credit cards, most of which are now resolved. Very recently, they offered a special promotion where there were extra JPMiles going out for signing up for the Visa version, or spending on the Visa version of the ICICI Bank 9W credit card. Now, a few important changes made to the product offering. Earlier, there were only 4 complimentary visits allowed per annum to the Altitude Lounge in Mumbai and Delhi. Now, this changes from 1st November 2013 onwards to make it unlimited trips to the lounges. Here are the reviews of…

The SBI Air India Signature Card adds an upgrade voucher!
When I first started out to review the SBI Air India Signature Card, I was basing my review on the information that was provided by SBI Cards in this respect. Now, just like all other new products, I’ve had my fair share of sparring with SBI Cards as well, but yesterday, I got third time lucky and finally managed to submit my application to SBI Cards after two time-wasting attempts by them before. As I was trying to find more information on this credit card, I came across this on the Air India website: Premium privileges include 1 complementary domestic upgrade voucher Complementary lounge access (emphasis, mine) This is not information that was put out by the credit card company.…
My botched up experience applying for the SBI AI Card
After launching a good product, it seems like SBI Cards is running their SBI Air India card just the same way like ICICI Bank did with the Jet ICICI Cards last year. I placed a request for an appointment for the card in the first couple of days it launched. I never heard back from the SBI Card team for an appointment till the first 10 days or so. And then, I started getting all sorts of calls, emails and messages on my own post, with SBI Cards asking me for information. I replied to them on email, on FlyerTalk as well. No one bothered to respond. And then, I messaged a friend who worked for their company. I was…

Credit Card Review: Air India SBI Visa Signature
With this post, I am reintroducing the Credit Card Reviews series in India, which I had to stop a while ago due to paucity of time. Air India & GE/SBI Credit Cards recently teamed up to launch co-branded credit cards which could earn you quite some miles, making me think of calling it perhaps the best credit card to earn miles in India at the moment. They’ve launched 2 credit cards, one at the Signature level and one at the Platinum level, and I will review both separately. Sign-Up Bonus: This credit card offers a tidy sign-up bonus of 20,000 Air India miles to start you up with the credit card product. You also get an upgrade voucher from Air…
Earning miles on a credit card and being paid for it
The recent festival season in India presented an interesting opportunity to earn miles & points, and also be paid for it. One of the banks in India was offering gift cards at a discount on the face value of the gift card, which essentially meant you would be getting more money to spend on the card than how much you paid for it. There was a 5% discount, so if you bought the gift cards worth INR 3,000, you only paid INR 2,850 for it. I was able to purchase this gift card with a points earning credit card issued in India, who gave me their normal points structure on this spend. In essence, I was earning miles, and roughly…
