Over the past few weeks, Karan has covered extensively the strategy of SpiceJet to expand on the back of aircraft that are being inducted into their fleet, which were earlier with Jet Airways. At last count, SpiceJet is already with about 9 of these aircraft in their fleet, with the target being 40 aircraft. With these aircraft in their fleet, the airline is not really modifying the aircraft, but just slapping on their own sticker on top of the Jet Airways livery and operating them for the moment.
With these aircraft in their fleet, for the time being, SpiceJet is selling the Business Class seats as SpiceMax. Like we wrote earlier, this is a great opportunity to fly in the comfort of Business Class for the price of just INR 1,000 more.
But SpiceJet is indeed working on launching a Business Class product in its fleet with these aircraft. SpiceBiz, as it will be called, will offer the following services:
- Dedicated business class (2-2)
- Wide seats with 140-degree recline
- Premium gourmet meals
- Welcome drink
- Priority check-in
- Preferred boarding
- Priority baggage
- Refreshing towels, blankets and cushions
- Lounge access
While SpiceJet has not put out an official date to the launch of SpiceBiz, they have already started selling tickets for the front cabin as Business Class, from May 11 onwards. Here are a few screenshots of various routes where Business Class is available for sale now.
Like you would notice, the availability does not depend on routes, but on the planes which have the Ex-Jet Airways frames on them. I’d only expect to see more of the Business Class routes come online in the coming days as more of these planes come in their fleet.
Have you flown one of the SpiceJet Business Class seats already? What has been your experience?
These planes are called the “TADKA JET” in the Indian aviation circles.
I booked a flight for tomorrow night from del-bom where they offered me these seats on Spice MAX.
How does the mileage programme started by SpiceJet value the business class miles?
