Last week, Singapore gave us the first hint that flying may be resuming between Singapore and India in the coming days. An agreement has now been reached between the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, where Singapore will open a Vaccinated Travel Lane between Singapore and three points in India, and customers arriving on designated flights will be able to step into Singapore without a quarantine requirement.

Singapore Airlines (re)launches flights between India and Singapore

Today, Singapore Airlines has announced that they will launch daily Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) services from Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai to Singapore from November 29, 2021, subject to regulatory approvals. The following flights will currently operate with the VTL status:

• From Delhi to Singapore: SQ403, which will depart from Delhi (DEL) at 9:50 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 6:10 am (+1). The flight will be operated with a Boeing 787-10 aircraft. This will be the designated VTL flight.
• From Mumbai to Singapore: SQ423, which will depart from Mumbai (BOM) at 11:35 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 7:30 am (+1). The flight will be operated with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This will be the designated VTL flight.
• From Chennai to Singapore: SQ529, which will depart from Chennai (MAA) at 11:15 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 5:55 am (+1). The flight will be operated with a Boeing 787-10 aircraft. This will be the designated VTL flight.

Singapore Airlines and group airline Scoot will also progressively operate non-VTL services from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Kochi from November 29, 2021. Customers on these flights must meet entry requirements into Singapore and adhere to prevailing health control measures. Second flights from Delhi and Mumbai, which are not VTL flights, will also be added twice a week in the coming days.

• From Kolkata to Singapore: SQ517, which will depart from Kolkata (CCU) at 10:50 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 5:25 am (+1). The flight will be operated with a Boeing 737-8 aircraft and resume on November 29, 2021.
• From Bengaluru to Singapore: SQ511, which will depart from Bengaluru (BLR) at 11:10 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 6:10 am (+1). The flight will be operated with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft four times a week. Flight resumes on November 30, 2021.
• From Ahmedabad to Singapore: SQ505, which will depart from Ahmedabad (AMD) at 11:05 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 7:15 am (+1). The flight will be operated with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft four times a week. Flight resumes on November 30, 2021.
• From Kochi to Singapore: SQ535, which will depart from Kochi (COK) at 11:05 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 6:10 am (+1). The flight will be operated with a Boeing 737-8 aircraft three times a week. Flight resumes on November 30, 2021.
• From Hyderabad to Singapore: SQ523, which will depart from Hyderabad (HYD) at 10:50 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 6:00 am (+1). The flight will be operated with a Boeing 737-8 aircraft three times a week. Flight resumes on December 1, 2021.

Scoot, SIA’s low-cost subsidiary, will operate non-VTL services from Amritsar, Hyderabad, and Tiruchirappalli.

• From Hyderabad to Singapore: TR575, which will depart from Hyderabad (HYD) at 11:15 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 6:15 am (+1). The flight will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft four times a week. Flight resumes on November 30, 2021.
• From Trichy to Singapore: TR565, which will depart from Tiruchirappalli (TRZ) at 11:55 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 6:30 am (+1). The flight will be operated with an Airbus A320neo aircraft three times a week. Flight resumes on December 2, 2021.
• From Amritsar to Singapore: TR509, which will depart from Amritsar (ATQ) at 10:00 pm to arrive in Singapore (SIN) at 6:10 am (+1). The flight will be operated with a Boeing 787-8 aircraft three times a week. Flight resumes on January 31, 2022.

SIA has also launched a Celebration Offer of up to 50% off on selected fares to Singapore from all SQ points across India to celebrate the occasion. Round trip fares start from INR 13,100 all-inclusive, and customers can avail of this sale from November 23 to 30, 2021, for travel before December 31, 2021.

This is a momentous occasion for us as we will be resuming passenger flights to India after a 20-month long hiatus. With the resumption of flights from India, including daily VTL flights from Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai, eligible SIA customers can finally enjoy seamless quarantine-free travel and reunite with their friends and family in Singapore.

Vaccinated Travel Lane

Travellers to Singapore who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents and wish to travel on the VTL services need to apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) before their visa application. VTP applications must be made between seven and 60 calendar days before the intended date of entry into Singapore. Bottomline

Singapore Airlines is resuming flights between India and Singapore on a large scale and vaccinated passengers will be able to travel from Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai to Singapore without the requirement to be quarantined on arrival. These flights will only be able to accept passengers who have a Singapore VTP on them.

We will now wait to see which Indian carriers will operate VTL flights between India and Singapore as well as three slots are still to be announced.
