IHG Rewards Club has further extended its 100% points purchase promotion through December 8, 2017. 100% bonus is one of the best that IHG offers on buying points.

In this round of offer, the 100% bonus will only kick in when you purchase a minimum of 20,000 points. Points can be purchased in multiples of 1,000 and with the 100% bonus kicking in the price per point will go down to 0.675 cents. You can buy a maximum of 60,000 IHG Rewards Club points every year.  You can either choose to buy the points yourself or receive it as a gift. It will take up to 2 days for the points credit to reflect in your account.

IHG Rewards Club is considered to be the world’s largest hotel loyalty program by membership numbers with over 100 million members and has over 5,000 hotels in nearly 100 countries. The group currently has close to 30 hotels in India that are mostly mid-scale, though there is a reasonable footprint across Asia.

IHG does have some aspirational properties in their portfolio and some hotels where you could gain value from redemptions are :

Hotel Indigo Seminyak Beach, Bali.  Priced at USD 300 a night, just for 30,000 points this is a great redemption choice as the value of points under this offer drive costs all the way down to USD 187.5 a night.

Intercontinental Times Square, New York for 60,000 points a night. The value of redemption under this promotion works out to be USD 345, where prices can go all the way up to USD 500 plus in the holiday season.

Intercontinental ANA, Tokyo A room night here is priced at USD 400 a night and will cost you about USD 312.5 for 50,000 Rewards Club points.

Also, these points come very handy if you want to use them for PointBreaks where you can get a night for just 5,000 points. It is like picking up a hotel room for $29 only.

Additionally, there is another targeted IHG  promotion running until December 31, 2017, where you can earn 2,000 bonus points after downloading the IHG App and signing into IHG account from the app.

Like always, I believe that buying points without having a redemption in mind are not a good idea. But the holiday season is coming up and if you are planning a break then it may be a good idea to top up your account now.
