Amex India’s festive offer: Give or get a Card via the Member-Get-Member Program to earn bonus points and get a set of Limited Edition Playing Cards – Offer extended till October 31.

For many years, American Express has offered a Member-Get-Member Program in India for its Cardmembers, also known as a referral program. American Express Cardmembers can recommend signing up for an American Express Card product to their friends and family, and Amex rewards both, the referrer and referee.

The referring Cardmember is gifted Membership Rewards points for their referrals (via a unique referral link available on their Card Account or App). The points are credited after the approval of the referred Cardmember. Once credited, these Membership Rewards points can be used just like all the other Membership Rewards points in the account, for instance, to transfer to an airline/hotel partner such as Emirates or Marriott Bonvoy, or obtain a statement credit towards purchases made on the Amex Card.

Refer your friends and get rewarded for each successful referral

Get up to 150,000 bonus points by December 2023 when you refer for an Amex Card, 5,000 to 8,000 Membership Rewards points for each successful referral.

American Express is offering the American Express MGM Programme in India again, which stands to benefit you if you refer your family and friends.

American Express India will grant you 5,000 to 25,000 Membership Rewards points, depending on the Card you hold, for each successful referral of a personal Card, up to 150,000 Membership Rewards points per Card in a calendar year. If you hold the Platinum Card or Centurion Card, you can earn up to 500,000 Membership Rewards points in a calendar year.

Referred Cardmembers also get special perks under the MGM Program

Those who sign up for their Amex Cards via a referral link also benefit from special offers on Card pricing, compared to signing up from the open market.

For instance, the American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card, which is publicly available for INR 1,000 + GST as first year fee and INR 4,500 + GST annual fee from the second year onwards, is available first year free on member referrals and only INR 1,500 + GST as annual fee the second year onwards, as per the current offer.

Similarly, on referral, the American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card is available for free in the first year, and the American Express Gold Card offers an additional bonus of 4,000 Membership Rewards points (subject to minimum spend), as compared to the publicly available offers.

The best bonus is saved for the top-of-the-line American Express Platinum Card. While prospective Cardmembers can get INR 45,000 worth of Taj Vouchers as a sign-up bonus via the publicly available offer online or at airports, etc., they stand to gain an additional 10,000 Membership Rewards points (spend-based) when signing up via a referral link.

And yes, as soon as Cardmembers sign-up via a referral offer and have their Card approved, they can also start referring other people for Amex Cards.

Limited Time Offer Extended: Get Limited Edition Playing Cards for successful referrals until October 31st, 2023.

In addition, Amex is giving away exclusive Limited Edition Playing Cards if you make referrals or sign up for one by October 31, 2023. Both sides (the referrer and the referee) will receive these exclusive playing cards as long as the referral is approved by 6 PM IST on October 31, 2023.

For the Platinum and Centurion Cardmembers, only the Platinum Card (Metal) referrals will make them eligible to earn bonus MR with Amex. You can use my referral link to sign up for a Card if you are looking to sign up for a new American Express Card in India, or ask a friend who is an existing Amex Cardmember for their referral link.

How to Refer?

To refer a friend as an existing Cardmember, please visit this page on the American Express website and log in. It brings you to a screen where you see your own Amex Cards, and you can generate a personalized referral link after reading the terms and conditions. You can either take the link and send it to your friends and family or generate an email from the Amex website itself.

If you hold a certain American Express Card but would like to refer your friend for another Amex personal Card, don’t worry. You can still send your Amex referral link, and the other person will be able to see the other Cards they can apply for via the referral link at their end as well. You will still get the referral credit on a successful application.

You can also access your Amex account via the Amex App to retrieve the unique link associated with each of your eligible Amex Cards and then email them to those who you want to refer to Amex, or even share via text messages or WhatsApp.

Bottomline

American Express has a referral program valid for Cardmembers, which is offering you the opportunity to earn up to 150,000 or 500,000 Membership Rewards points in a calendar year, depending on the card you hold, by referring your friends and family to get a new American Express Card. Those using a referral link to obtain new Amex Cards (Charge or Credit) receive special pricing and bonus Membership Rewards points, apart from the ability to refer new members into the program after getting their own Cards.

And finally, if you successfully refer or get referred and approved for an Amex Card by October 31, 2023, 6 PM IST, both you and your friend also get Limited Edition Playing Cards courtesy of Amex, which could be a conversation starter during your Diwali parties!
