One of the most low-key cards in the American Express Consumer Cards universe in India is the American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card. The card tracks the Amex Platinum Charge Card in terms of rewards earning but is a low-end version for those who intend to use a credit card over a charge card. American Express has today gone live with new benefits for this card. The first new change to the card is the design, in line with the changing design of American Express cards around India.
American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card gets Accor Plus Membership
American Express has rolled out the Accor Plus Membership for American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card members. Accor Plus is a paid programme offered by Accor that offers up to 50% discounts on dining at Accor-attached restaurants, such as the Pondicherry Cafe at Sofitel Mumbai and the Farmers Basket at Pluck at Pullman Delhi Aerocity. The dining discounts can be used across over 1,000 hotels in the Asia Pacific region, including brands such as Fairmont and Raffles at the higher end and ibis on the budget end.
Members also get Silver status in the ALL loyalty programme, which dictates stay benefits and 20 elite nights as a fast-track to their next elite status in the ALL programmes. The membership usually costs INR 8,260 per annum, so it is a nifty perk added to your membership with Amex Platinum Reserve.
Cardmembers already enrolled for Taj Epicure Plus till April 30, 2024, will automatically be enrolled for Accor Plus Traveller, the membership details will be shared on the registered email address within 30 business days. Enrolment into Accor Plus including the dispatch of the Accor Plus digital welcome kit may take up to 4-5 weeks from the date of enrolment.
International Lounge Visits added.
Amex Platinum Reserve Credit Card also comes with a basic Priority Pass, which only has chargeable visits. Now, the card will offer two lounge trips free of cost outside of India, using the Priority Pass every year. This is over and above the 12 domestic lounge trips offered annually in India.
Enhanced Milestone Benefits against Higher Spending.
American Express launched milestone benefits, offering vouchers for spending milestones achieved on this card every month. Now, they have doubled the bounty on offer. So far, Amex has offered vouchers worth INR 500 monthly on a spending milestone of INR 25,000. Now, American Express will offer INR 1,000 vouchers monthly, but only for a minimum of INR 50,000. This is an enrolment-based benefit, so make sure to enrol when the benefit goes live.
Golf Benefits are now pegged to spending.
The American Express Platinum Reserve offers two rounds of Golf per month at 32 courses across India without a green fee. Effective May 1, 2024, the benefit will be granted upon spending INR 50,000 in a month, and the benefit will be unlocked for the month after. So, if you spend INR 50,000 in May, the benefit can be availed in July 2024.
Overall, the benefits have been reevaluated to make the financial performance of the card portfolio more solid, and Amex has added the Accor Plus benefit and international lounge trips as a sweetener. The card will continue offering INR 10,000 worth of Taj Vouchers on spending INR 500,000 annually.
Bottomline
American Express has introduced new benefits on the Platinum Reserve Credit Card effective May 1, 2024. These include an Accor Plus membership and two international lounge trips per annum. The Golf Benefit and Monthly milestone vouchers will now be linked to INR 50,000 monthly spending.

Hi Ajay, I am not at all happy with the upgrade. Firstly, I love the look of the card, but I’m missing the word ‘Platinum’. I wanted at least 4 international lounge accesses (one in each quarter) and a maximum of 12 golf benefits without any spending terms. (Hardly anybody goes there or who goes in this hot summer or in the rain)? Higher spending is absolutely unacceptable each month, and an annual fee waiver at Rs.10 lakhs is also absolutely unacceptable. It could be at Rs.7.5 lakhs. Amex will earn Rs.35000 from 10 lakhs as transaction merchant fees.Lastly, remember that Taj Epicure Members effectively gets 7% return. (25% discount- 18% Luxury Tax)= effective return 7%
But will Amex include Accor in the points transfer?
@Arun, Accor Plus and ALL are two different companies. so dealing with one does not mean they deal with the other, automatically.
Hi Ajay
How will it help a customer who is already Accor plus Silver? Will he get an additional 20 nights and one more welcome kit?
