Amex Platinum Cardmembers: Enrol for Taj Inner Circle Silver status & Taj Epicure dining plan by January 31

One of the oldest benefits with American Express Platinum Card is a membership for the Taj Epicure Dining plan. The Taj Epicure has been one of the oldest dining programmes in India, and offers the following benefits:

  •  25% back as points on dining, bars and spa transactions
  • 50% back as points on first 3 dining transactions (excluding meals while staying at Taj)
  • Complimentary stay in a base room at most properties (excluding blackout dates 23 December to 15 January 2021)
  • 2 room upgrade vouchers
  • InnerCircle Silver status (includes late checkout up to 5 pm)
  • Happy Hour – buy 1 get 1 drink free (every day of the week between 6 pm and 8 pm)
  • No points expiry

When signing up as a perk of the Amex Platinum, you don’t get the complimentary stay, but get all the other benefits. However, the Taj Epicure programme has evolved somewhere during the end of 2020/early 2021, and this means this benefit is going away as of January 31, 2021.

If you would still like to receive a Taj Epicure membership via your membership with the American Express Platinum Card, then you would have to do so by January 31, 2021. This is the last date reflected on the American Express Platinum Card benefits page.

If you already have a Taj InnerCircle Membership, you should fill-up the form with the number already assigned to you to receive your new membership kit. If you don’t have a membership number, don’t worry, Taj Inner Circle will generate one for you.

I will be writing about the new version of the Taj InnerCircle membership later on, but for now, I expect that people who sign up now will still receive the old benefits and not the new ones.

Anybody signed up for the Taj Epicure plan recently via Amex and can confirm how it works now?

  1. Have a doubt, will all those benefits like 50% off on first 3 dinning, room upgrade voucher & those be renewed every year or could be used only once

  2. They seem to be dropping both Taj Epicure and Shangrila Jade status, wonder if they will add some alternates instead?
    Ajay any leads?

    • As long as the card is active, Taj epicure will be renewed automatically until last year. Need to see how Amex handles the new Taj Epicure.
