American Express is on a roll recently. They are putting out many customised offers. For instance, just recently they put out a new promotion which allows you to earn 10 Membership Rewards/INR 100 spent for fuel purchases, a category for which they usually don’t offer any points. And today, they’ve launched a great promotion for those of you who like to buy from Amazon India, although, it is for EMI purchases only.
The offer, like you see, is about getting you 20 Membership Rewards points/INR 100 spent on Amazon. The following Cards from American Express qualify:
- American Express Gold Card (20 MR/INR 100)
- American Express Platinum Reserve Credit Card (20 MR/INR 100)
- American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card (20 MR/INR 100)
- American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card (20 MR/INR 100)
- Everyday Spend American Express Gold Credit Card (20 MR/INR 100)
The minimum transaction value is INR 8,000 in a single transaction to be eligible for the promotion. The transactions done on Amazon and converted into EMI at the point of sale will only be valid for the offer. EMI tenure valid for the offer is 3,6,9,12,18 and 24 months. You can earn a maximum of 5000 Bonus Membership Rewards points per transaction during the offer period, which caps the value of each transaction for maximisation at INR 25,000. There is no cap on the number of transactions you can make. As a reference, you can check out the EMI charts here.
The promotion is valid from July 9, 2019, to July 12, 2019, inclusive of both the dates. Both the transaction and conversion into EMI on Amazon needs be to be done during this period. You will get the first 2 Membership Rewards points/INR 100 as usual when the transaction posts, and the rest 18 Bonus Membership Rewards points by August 31, 2019.
Remember, Gold and Jewellery purchases can’t be converted to EMI, and you can have only 6 EMIs running at a point of time on your Amex Card.

3 and 6 months EMI don’t attract any interest. All other duration attract 12% p.a.
Not targeted. Would have given it a miss . There is Prime day round the corner, with 10 % instant discount on HDFC cards. Route it through Smartbuy for those 10X reward points , though EMIs are out of bound.
