Amex offering up to 5X Membership Rewards points on MakeMyTrip bookings through October 24, 2022

American Express has just launched a new promotion, where they are offering five times the usual Membership Rewards on travel booked via MakeMyTrip, as long as you go to MakeMyTrip via the Rewards Multiplier portal.

The American Express Reward Multiplier is primarily a shopping portal that allows you to earn more reward points when you pass through the portal to your desired shopping site. The points on offer differ per card variant.

The portal excludes all Corporate Cards and Cobrand Cards from earning more points. American Express allows you to make up to 25,000 bonus Membership Rewards points per month with the Reward Multiplier.

How does the American Express Rewards Multiplier Work?

Before you shop, you need to click through the link from the Reward Multiplier website, which takes you to a screen like this.

The additional Membership Rewards points will be credited within 120 days from the date of availing the service. Additionally, the T&C state that The card member will be eligible for reward points only if the purchases are made through Reward Multiplier and not directly on the merchant website. This leaves out the opportunity to use the app altogether.

Bottomline

This is a pretty lucrative offer if you believe in the power of Membership Rewards points as I do. Cardmembers of the American Express Gold Charge Card, American Express Platinum Card and other such cards get 5X points, which is a direct response to the new challenger Axis Bank, and the usual suspect HDFC Bank. If it works, maybe they make it a permanent offer. Let’s hope.
