When it comes to spend-based offers, one of the chief proponents in the market is American Express. American Express has rolled out spend-based offers as India enters the festive season. We usually don’t write about them because these are targetted. However, this time, the spend-based offers seem to have been rolled out to a broad American Express Platinum Cardmembers base.

American Express Platinum Spending Offers for August – September 2024

While American Express used to offer some Taj vouchers, this time around, they have rolled out an offer where you can receive either Amazon or Flipkart vouchers. All offers are valid from August 1 to September 10, 2024, and enrolment is mandatory. The twist is that an additional voucher is on the line if you refer someone for an American Express Platinum Card.

The offers rolled out by American Express are targeted only at cardmembers of the American Express Platinum Card issued in India.

These are the offers targeted towards the American Express Platinum Card members. Remember, it is a two-part offer.

1. Promo Code [for Amazon/Flipkart vouchers] worth INR 25,000 on making total eligible spend worth INR 10,00,000 or more [2.5%] + Promo code worth INR 5,000 on referring the American Express Platinum Card and getting approved.
2. Promo Code [for Amazon/Flipkart vouchers] worth INR 18,000 on making total eligible spend worth INR 7,00,000 or more [2.57%] + Promo code worth INR 4,000 on referring the American Express Platinum Card and getting approved.
3. Promo Code [for Amazon/Flipkart vouchers] worth INR 12,000 on making total eligible spend worth INR 5,00,000 or more [2.4%] + Promo code worth INR 3,000 on referring the American Express Platinum Card and getting approved.
4. Promo Code [for Amazon/Flipkart vouchers] worth INR 8,000 on making total eligible spend worth INR 3,00,000 or more [2.4%] + Promo code worth INR 2,000 on referring the American Express Platinum Card and getting approved.
5. Promo Code [for Amazon/Flipkart vouchers] worth INR 6,000 on making total eligible spend worth INR 2,00,000 or more [3.0%] + Promo code worth INR 2,000 on referring the American Express Platinum Card and getting approved.
6. Promo Code [for Amazon/Flipkart vouchers] worth INR 3,000 on making total eligible spend worth INR 1,00,000 or more [3.0%] + Promo code worth INR 2,000 on referring the American Express Platinum Card and getting approved.

The vouchers for referrals are over and above the points that you would receive under the MGM offer.

There is no restriction on where you can spend, and no minimum number of transactions is required. The offer is applicable only to select American Express card members. A Cardmember is eligible for this offer only if they have received an offer communication directly from American Express through any of its channels. Supplementary cardmember spending will also be counted towards the spending made by the primary cardmember.

As part of this offer, Cardmembers will only receive the referral offer (part two of the offer) if they are able to fulfil the first part of the offer. Otherwise, they only get the points for new sign-up referrals.

Promo codes will be sent to eligible card members at their registered email addresses with American Express by December 30, 2024. Coupon codes (to choose between Amazon and Flipkart) will be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance.

Bottomline

American Express has rolled out its spending promotions for the season and offers 2.4-3% incentives over and above the other rewards it usually offers for spending. You should have received an email with your customised offer from American Express, and make sure to enrol before you start spending.
