American Express Launches new Salon Cashback for Gold and Platinum (Charge) Cardmembers

American Express launched a Salon Cashback in association with Lakme earlier this year, where they offered a 100% cashback on services offered by select Lakme Salons and paid on your American Express charge cards. Now, they have launched a modified version of the same promotion, which offers a staggered cashback over a period of time. The promotion is offered on the Gold and the Platinum Cards offered by American Express.

  • November 16 to December 15, 2021
  • December 16, 2021, to January 15, 2022

Terms of the promotion

  • 100% cashback will be applied every time, and the offer is limited to a maximum of INR 500 cashback applied to your Gold Card per month. For Platinum Cards, the cashback is limited to INR 750.

  1. Hi Ajay,

Thanks for great content keeping us abreast of latest in Travel from Indian perspective. I have a question, any idea from when will they start onboarding people on Amex Platinum again, at the moment they are not even upgrading.

  2. Hi Ajay,

Is there any difference between the T&C of this offer and the T&C of the previous one? I didn’t understand the supplementary card thing. Can you please provide more info on that if you have?

    • @Shikhar, the last time you could take the entire 1500/2250 in one sitting as a 100% cashback, this time, there are three time periods of 1 month each, and each time you can get 1/3 of the split. Perhaps Lakme guided this as, they might get more business in this way.

      • Thanks Ajay 🙂
Any idea on the supplementary card benefit? I guess they were treated separately last time and this time, they are clubbed together with the primary card benefit. Is it the case?

        • @Shikhar, I think the last time around they did not allow for the add-on/supplementary cards to be getting the cashback and only the primary card could. This time they will pass on the cashback to supplementary cards too I believe.
