American Express, apart from being a credit card/charge card issuer, is also one of the biggest travel services providers in the world. While much of their business comes from corporate travel, they also offer travel services to their Platinum and Centurion card members.
American Express has long been offering a promotion (last valid for bookings till April 30, 2023) to get people to try out American Express Travel Services in India, where they provided INR 30,000 worth of Taj vouchers once a year to those who booked domestic flights and/or hotels with American Express Platinum Travel Services. It was an incredible offer, where you get a straight 30% return on your spending over and above whatever points you’d receive, and is valid only for Platinum Cardmembers of Amex. The constraint placed was that the cardmember also needed to be one of the people travelling.
American Express is offering INR 15,000 worth of Taj Vouchers on domestic/international bookings.
American Express has now launched a new promotion, which offers you Taj Vouchers worth INR 15,000 when you book your travel via American Express Travel Online.
The new promotional offer is valid for bookings from July 17 to October 17, 2023. The offer applies on bookings made via Amex Travel Online and includes:
- Domestic Hotel Bookings (stay through April 17, 2024)
- International Hotel Bookings (stay through April 17, 2024)
- Domestic Airline Bookings
- International Airline Bookings
- Domestic Car Bookings
- International Car Bookings
After considering all the spending in one transaction, the net amount should be a minimum of INR 100,000. The vouchers will be sent to you within 60 days of consuming/completing the travel booking. In this iteration of the promotion, which can only be availed once per card member, booking done via Platinum Travel Service will not be eligible (by calling or emailing).
As usual, either of Platinum Basic cardholder or Supplementary Cardholder must be a part of the travelling group for which the tickets are being purchased, and all payments need to be made through an American Express Platinum Card issued in India by American Express.
There are three differences from the earlier promotion this time around.
- Valid on domestic and international bookings this time around
- Valid across hotels, cars and airline bookings this time around
- Only valid on online bookings this time (compared to Platinum Travel Services earlier)
Even with the changes and the reduction of the 30K offer to 15K, this is a good promotion, purely because it becomes more attainable now with international spending being included in the offer. And a 15% Return is not bad at all.

I agree that achieving this milestone has become easier with international travel but financially its a major devaluation. Please unlike standard Taj vouchers, Amex Taj vouchers require that room is booked under standard rates i.e. not under member’s category where Taj mostly offers 10% discount and in some properties even 15%.
So considering a 15% benefit actually is a 5% benefit as you are paying 10 higher price.
From same calculation, it was earlier a cool 20% which was awesome.
So IMO unless we are booking on AMEX’s partner international airlines, it would not be of much value.
This is devaluation, till June 30th , 30k Taj voucher was offered on spending 1 lac for hotel and travel booking, I did my booking in last week of May for same offer, I was informed after 60 days Taj voucher worth 30k will be shared
@Aditya, earlier on, it was just for domestic travel and now includes international as well, which is a much easier place to spend INR 100K in the first place. So yeah, everything beyond your product feature is a promotion, and promotions change anytime or all the time.
I had got this email and was wondering if this is over and above the once a year domestic spend 30K vouchers using the concierge but seems like that is now completely gone.
