Akasa Air has its first 737 MAX aircraft ready: Have a Look

Akasa Air, the brainchild of Vinay Dube and the ex-Jet Airways team, financially backed by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, had last year signed on its first aircraft deal, announcing a deal for 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which will include a bunch of white-tail 737 MAX aircraft which were initially produced for other airlines. The airline did a livery reveal back in December 2021. Today, they shared pictures of the first 737 MAX aircraft painted in their colours.

Akasa had reportedly delayed the airline’s launch by a month, moving it to July 2022, while the earlier plan was to launch in June 2022. The airline has further delayed the plan, reportedly but not confirmed by the airline.

The aircraft now needs to arrive in India before Akasa can set the rest of its plan rolling. But it will first need to undergo flight testing before being handed over to Akasa.

While the airline is already working on a lot of the other stuff at the back end, just like Jet Airways, it will have to undergo a set of proving flights with the Indian regulator DGCA and receive its Air Operator Certificate, which is one of the final steps to launch the airline.

Once done, the airline will be able to sell flights and open reservations from thereon.

What do you think of the new Akasa Air 737 MAX aircraft? Apart from the fact that it looks like Indian Airlines.
