Air Pegasus cancels flights indefinitely!

Air Pegasus was launched about a year ago as a regional carrier in South India. The carrier had three ATR 72-500 planes, and was expecting to add another two planes within the year. Right now, they flew between Hubli, Bangalore, Mangalore, Chennai, Trivandrum and Madurai.

Yesterday, however, the airline shut down all operations temporarily and did not operate any flights yesterday. It seems one of their planes has been taken away by the owner of the plane who leased it to them.

Like you’d see, on FlightRadar24, no flights show operational after July 26, 2016 for their plane VT-APA.

The Economic Times reports:

The airline, which operates out of Bengaluru, cancelled all its flights on Wednesday. While the airline cited ‘technical glitches’ to airport executives, the people cited above disclosed deeper financial problems.

Further, the report goes on to state that two out of their 3 planes seem to have been repossesed by the lessor due to non-payment. Also, Jet Airways, which provides line maintenance services, has stopped providing services due to non-payment of dues as well.

The airline’s own website has no mention at the moment about all the cancellations.

This is very unfortunate, given that this is a much smaller operator we are talking about and India is still reeling from the impact of the grounding of Kingfisher Airlines and the cuts at Spicejet back in the day.

If anyone of you are booked on Air Pegasus, it would be wise to revisit your plan now perhaps and call the airline.
